wow. first ever journal entry. ive been a member of sg for a month or two but havent logged on since i first joined a few weeks ago coz my gf busted my balls for using her laptop to "look at naked pictures of women". i wish so many women weren't so insecure. don't they realise that it's a major turn off!! oh well live and learn. at least now i know to go thru the history and delete any mention of sg. (not that i should bloody well have to). it's these little things which make me love her more and more each day.... anyway, i just bought my own laptop so it's not a problem anymore. i'm living on christmas island at the moment. it's really, really, really small (about 1500 people) and quite boring but i'm only here for another 6 months or so. i came up here for work about 8 months ago (it's amazing how much people will pay you to work in isolated areas!) and stayed because i fell madly in love with a sexy, young german. needless to say my girlfriend was insanely jealous but how the hell a woman can get jealous over a car is beyond me (albeit a low km 1997 bmw). it's kinda like that stephen king book "christine" but in reverse. anyway i digress. on xmas island there are no tax laws so you can buy liquor, cigarettes and cars imported at duty free prices. we pay $2 for a pack of smokes over the counter at the local deli. if we produce a plane ticket we get a carton for $12 (they're normally $20). a 1L bottle of johnny walker black label is about $32. it's like a drinker and smoker's paradise. i've even considered taking up smoking a few times myself but just can't bring myself to it!!. anyway, cutting a long story short if i stay on the island with the car for 12 months i get to ship it home to perth with no tax at all supplementing johnny howards next junket (quite a bargain really!). i've been with my girlfriend for over 2 years now and she flew over to the island with me when i first got work over here. i wasn't intending to stay that long but one thing led to another....

christmas island sounds wild, you'll have to post some pictures.
btw, just a tip, the contact thing sends an email to the person and is only generally used to send stuff to someone you're already friends with and want to contact further. the usual way of making friends and starting dialogue is to leave a comment in that person's journal. to reply to someone who has left a comment in your journal you don't reply in your own journal you post your comment in their's. hope that helps, everyone does the same thing when they start out, including myself.
and you should get yourself a cheesy profile pic, even if you have to chop out something hidieous, people like that.
making friends is actually pretty easy, you surf around the journals of people you come across in groups or whateve, read their journal, then comment if you're interested in what they're saying. if they comment back send them a friend request and 90% of the time you'll have a new friend!
as yes, i have superb taste in hiphop
