i went out today to get some football tickets for the new team that has started up (fc united of manchester). their first league match is the day after my birthday, so it'll be fun drinking away the hangover from the mexican-fusion dinner the night before. i was at their last friendly last night, which happened to feature both their first goals and their first win, 5-2! excellent. it was awesome being able to watch the action from 4 feet in front of my face as opposed to the little multi-millionare dots that ran around old trafford.
not that i've been a massive football fan forever. my first match was over 4 years ago (portsmouth v. southampton) with my ex and his london friends. the past year, i've gone to a few man united matches on my boyfriend's season ticket. since the glzer takeover, he has given up the ticket and put his support into fc united. really difficult for him, bein a born and bred red devil.
it's so weird how much i have gotten into the workings of things since moving here last year. i've never been much into sports, aside from playing basketball and watching phillies baseball in 1993, where they lost the world series and made me cry.
anyway, august 13th should be fun and the point of this post was that after buying the tickets, i also found myself a nice soft green hoodie and grey tshirt for cheap.

next time you get the itch to attend a foorball match you should take a trip up to Glasgow. That is absolutely the first thing I would do if I ever got a chance to visit the UK.
also...I love this picture
