while living under my parents' roof, they kind of forbade me to get any pets, so i got a few awesome little houseplants. they're doing just fine and i love them, but they aren't fuzzy.
i made the mistake (always a mistake) of going to the pet store for my dad to get a new bed and treats for our dog, who is now a little old man. there i saw lots of cute little rodents and as usual, fell in love with them.
i was deciding between a blackberry dwarf or a black bear hamster. i've had tons of dwarf hamsters in my life (mostly due to being sold "two females" who ended up procreating after i brought them home), and i think they're one of the most darling little creatures.
needless to say, i bought a handful of things to add to one of the tanks i had lying around in the garage and got the blackberry dwarf. he's more of a very dark grey with a black stripe running down his back (like dwarves have) and a little white bib.
he's still a baby and pretty tiny, but after letting him move-in and adapt overnight, i took him out and he was exploring my hands with no fear at all. he'll be a nice little replacement-friend until i get my rabbit here from england, and then we'll be a big happy critter family.
he is called 'simon'.
