Well, after a few months away, I got bored and caved. Here I am again.
So, moving to a big, cool city didn't really change any of the parts of me that make socializing so impossible. I only seem to open up to people enough for them to feel comfortable when I am drinking, and that's not really a path a care to head down given my family history.
Chicago seems cool, just as I had guessed from my previous visits, but there nothing like living in a major metropolis, surrounded by millions of other people to make you feel alone. I suspect things will pick up in the summer when everyone emerges from his little cave. The winter seems endless and I really do miss the sunlight, the color green, the wind whipping through the treetops. Spring should be peaking around the corner within the next month or so.
On a positive note, I started playing the banjo when I moved up here and I love, love, love it.
Clarence Ashley is responsible:
Just makes you feel like your lying around in some dark hollow in the middle of nowhere, which is exactly where I grew up, so maybe that explains the attraction.
On another positive note, I got the greatest little cat a few months ago. Tuck is total cuddle monster and just the sweetest little knucklehead that you could hope to find.
Well, that's enough whining. Back to my new obsession, Doc Martin, which has me wanting to jet off to a cottage on the Cornish coast.
