If you get a chance, I highly recommend Kurosawas movie Ikiru (translates To Live) (1952). It is an existential masterpiece. It is all about affirming life through the confrontation of death. The movie follows an aging man who finds that he has stomach cancer and is forced to strip the veneer from his existence and find meaning in his final few months. Additionally, parts of the movie also appear to be post war metaphors for the state of Japan.
A good movie for when one is in a deep sort of mood. It is probably not a good idea to watch it if you are suicidal, as it could send you further into the depths of existential despair.
