I love fall. I just don't like being depressed by the weather. Going to play some billiards now.

More hiking today, this time with the splendiferous d_c. Bluffs at St Paul again, this time in the dusky rain and with some graffiti viewing thrown in for good measure.

Afterwards, we went to a friend's place to watch the debate. Part of me just can't get past the body language exhibited by both candidates. It says so much..part of that is my own...

So. Monday, a coworker mentioned that her husband is selling the old Fairmont Hotel building in downtown Minneapolis, which for years was a notorious flophouse at Ninth and Hennepin. It's being gutted, but there are still some personal effects from the last tenants..

They let me and my camera walk through and take some photos before the demolition. I'll post a folder here as soon...

Spent Saturday hiking around at Minnehaha Falls, and then to coffee, dessert, and dinner (yes, in that order) with all-around-fun companion.

It's friday. I am so glad this week is over. I cannot put my finger on what's been the deal, but I will not allow this crap to continue.

I'm going to eat hotdogs, listen to bluegrass, and maybe it's been long enough since Wednesday for me to feel like drinking again.

On another note: maybe I'm meant to be a firefighter.

I'm dirty and stinky (though I showered this morning..who knew that just the thought of camping makes me a bit rank??) I'm also exhiliarated and sore and rejuvinated from this weekend's fun.

My friend and I went up to northern Wisconsin to go kayaking in the Apostle Islands..while we didn't make it out to any of the islands, we did do a nice day trip...

Had a great weekend. Hung out with parents, petted aging terrier, went to the Meat Raffle at the Moose Lodge (much more fun than it sounds..).

Sat on the dock and drank some tea, but the loons have already flown away, I think. Drove out to my old farm and picked some apples, baked apple crisp..

..all in all, a wholesome weekend. Sometimes I think...
