As a teen, and as a young man, I was attracted to the romance of self destruction. I used to find the idea of being remembered as a tragic, broken artist to be very appealing.
Fortunately, I got past that. I mean, I'm still self destructive, but I've chosen not to wallow in it. And thank God for it - aggressive self destruction is tedious to be around, and I'd miss me when I was gone.
In case you're wondering, this random thought wasn't sparked by depression, but by reading an article about Ian Curtis (of Joy Division).
Today my plan is to do as little work as possible at work. Video game playing, here I come.

Ian Curtis was a troubled man. Epilepsy, more than anything, was responsible for his suicide.
