I volunteered at the women's shelter again tonight. I was paired with the same little boy, Randy, as I was last week. He recognized me when he walked in the room, and he was really happy to see me. That boy can really read! While most of the other kids had their volunteers read to them, and only 1 or 2 books I might add,...

Today was a depressing day: the weather and lack of sleep have put me in a somber mood. Some days you just wish you could stay in bed all day and not face the world. This was definitely one of those days. I think I'm going to try and sleep it off..............tomorrow has to be better.........

goodnight folks........

I just got back from another one of those volunteer thingys........volunteered at the women's shelter again. Tonight I was paired with this really smart 8 year old boy named Randy. He was an avid reader - he finished 4 books during our hour. He was a really nice boy too, as he made a card during the arts and crafts portion for his 2 sisters......I...

good for you. you're making me miss volunteering. even if all i ever really did was file papers and stuff.
the weekend for me usually means work. i haven't had a weekend off in a very long time. and i usually end up sleeping through most of my days off. i think i'm calling in sick today so that i can get caught up on laundry.

Yesterday afternoon I went to an alumni function for my alma matter. It was a mixer/brunch sort of thing, and it was pretty fun. The afternoon rain cut down on the attendance, but I met a couple of cool guys and one attractive girl. Brunch was pretty good, though not really worth the $23 - had some good crawfish and ribs though.

It looks like...

I know I haven't written much this week but when I'm working fulltime there's really not much to write about. I am not a morning person, and it's hard for me to get to sleep before 1 a.m., so after a full day's work I'm too pooped to go out and do anything.

It has been a pretty uneventful week at work. My client does...

Today was my first day at a new client. I'll be out in midtown for the next 2 months, preparing a bunch of 5471s. Today I had to get fingerprinted and get an ID for the building, and the security people snatched the ID I borrowed to get up to the 31st floor to get fingerprinted and ID'd. I felt bad, because I got the...

So yesterday was a fun and busy day. My friend Stacy was in town this weekend. She lives in Atlanta but is thinking of moving to NYC soon - she was here for some job interviews. Anyway, we met up at City Bakery for lunch and caught up on old times. City Bakery is an excellent place to grab a sandwich and/or some pastries/desserts/sweets by...

Last night I did some volunteer work at this women's shelter in midtown. They need volunteers to hang out with the children while the mothers are in some sort of meeting. So from 6:30 to 8:00 last night I read stories to, talked to, and helped this little 5 year old girl named Caitlyn make art. The kids are really cool, although they do get...

wow, when i read the tiny bit of your journal on the hookups page i totally expected you to be a girl. i used to do that same kind of stuff at my local shelter when i was in high school. i even did all the training so that i could work the crisis line before the place shut down. but the whole thing was run entirely by women. i think the guys in my town were afraid to volunteer. you rock.
