I'm almost a Mac
My computer is still jacked. It's horribly crippled. I never noticed how necessary USB ports were until mine were rendered useless. No mouse, no external harddrives, no printer, no picture transfers, no iPod changes, no nothing! (*_*)
Thankfully, Best Buy is being a darling about it. It helps that I got ahold of the general manager. In short, after a few emails, he said that because of the damage (internal and cosmetic) they would have to replace the whole computer, and that the replacement value would be equal to or less the original cost of the computer! My computer is 2 1/2 years old. I was intending to sell my computer which is why the cosmetic damage is such a big deal. I was planning on ~$600. Now, I'll be able to get ~$1500 which will go towards my new Mac instead!
I won't be able to spare sending it off until July though which he was okay with. That a good thing. It shortens the time between me getting my BB replacement and selling it before getting my Mac. You see, Leopard won't be coming out until November, and there may be MacBookPro update before then also. So a bit of delay will afford me the newest Apple has to offer.
I've worked extensively on both Macs and PCs. They both have their pros and cons; I hate fanboyism for either. That said, this will be the first Mac I've personally owned, so I'm super excited about that. I'm also excited to see what crazy shit Apple does for Leopard, and maybe for new MBPs. It'll be another ~4years before I'll be buying a new computer, so we'll see how this foray into Macs go. There are things I'll miss about XP. BUT the thing that nudged me over the fence to Mac was when BootCamp came out. So I won't really be missing those things...
