My [strike]computer[/strike] strike]baby[/strike] teat-of-the-internet-I-suckle-for-sustenance is in the shop. I can't even compose an analogy to encompass how severe such a separation is. It has all my work, all my entertainment, all my social networking, and has been painstakingly customized, tweaked, and organized to flow effortlessly to serve my needs. The future of technology is exciting and frightening. Our investment cannot be reversed. And as our investment grows, losing a computer or cellphone to repair (or actual loss, heaven forbid) will be much more than an inconvenience.
Sorry for any delays in replies/posting. I couldn't access SG for several days.
AR was spectacular. I couldn't have spent a better time on vacation. The best part was just sitting and talking with friends. But other highlights included:
--canoeing in the AR spring
--eating too much (Arby's, BBQ, Sonic treats, etc)
--handgun shooting at the range
--attending a dog obedience school
--playing Mega Man for hours
I love how good friends grow with you. Old acquaintances just reminisce. And while good friends reminisce also, you continue building your relationship.
We pulled out after canoeing at a rundown old girls camp in the AR hills. The owner is 85 and has lived there his whole life. He regaled us with tales of what the camp used to be like and even gave us a mini-tour through the dilapidated buildings and showed us old pictures and artifacts. It was fascinating. I truly hope someone does a documentary on the camp and him. I would even be tempted to do it myself if I wasn't in Japan.
I'm going to be chubby when I return. {>_<} But I'm counteracting it a little. Before I went to AR, I bought new running shoes for my future marathon. On Sunday I ran for the first time in ages. I'm still hobbling. It'll wear off soon enough though.
I have some strong thoughts opposing guns in this country. But squeezing off a few rounds at the range as recreation is fun.
I'm a cat man, but I'd love to have a dog. If I can find the [url]http://www.dogsindepth.com/index.htmlright one. One friend in AR has 2 dobermans who seem perfect for me, but they're pretty needy. Another friend has a Newfoundland. I love Newfs, but the never ending drool is a deal breaker.
I'm tasting whiskys. I'm traveling tomorrow again though. It'll be up Thurs.
