Holy shit! I leave for the US in 5 days! I have a lot of stuff to do before then. How do big trips always sneak up like that?
I asked my sister the other day if my niece knew I was coming to visit. She said she had told her that I would be coming soon, but that they would avoid telling her the exact day until like the day before, in order to avoid my niece, who is 4, asking every minute when I would finally arrive.
I wish I could regain that innocent wonder. That every moment would be an eternity. That Christmas, and birthdays, and uncle's visits would never come soon enough. That summers truly were endless. The belief that every minute must be lived to the fullest.
Of course car rides would suck. And waiting rooms. And all the down time at my job would crush the soul of any child. Though I manage to fill it with Japanese study and internet surfing...

P.S.- if I had a wishlist, The Complete Calvin & Hobbes would be on it. (One of the C&H books is called The Days are Just Packed, which I thought of while writing this post)
