I'm enjoying my new Kindle. You should be jealous. As one of many New Yorkers who takes public transportation, walks a lot, and brings a book everywhere, I'd say an e-reader is pretty darn convenient.

So much public domain content for free. It's great if you aren't worried about the particular edition, apparatus, etc. I'd still pay for a good, new translation of something not originally in English, but I don't mind reading, say, an enormous, unedited text of Tristram Shandy or some other book for which a print edition would be difficult to carry around.
And I did download some free translated stuff. Even if a translation of something like the Eddas or War and Peace is clunky, it's not as clunky as the book.
