I woke up today with a blood red spot on my eye. I truly dont know why.

Then I had fun with traffic.

So I'm in a line at a green light, and there's this huge truck in front of me I have followed from the highway. I cant see in front of the damn thing, its just too big.

The light changes. The whole line accelerates.
Then suddenly, the truck in front of me is stopped.

I slam the brakes. No go. *Boom.*

Well, it shakes both trucks, but I have impacted at under 10 mph. No biggie, right? Oh no, cool as a cucumber, the man and woman in the other truck flow out check both bumpers, claim theirs is pushed in, and proceed to call the cops.

Meanwhile, I'm late for work.

The entire uncomfortable situation takes almost an hour and 45 minutes. In the process of this, the man and woman in their practically brand-new looking truck never seem to even break a sweat over the fact I supposedly hurt their baby. No shock, no alarm, not even upset the incident happened far as I can tell. Everything down to their body language says they are completely at ease and not at all put out they they might have to go through the time and trouble and expense of repairing their vehicle now. She's in the truck chatting up an old friend she hasnt heard from in a while, laughing and talking, while he's chatting up the police officer.

Real upset, they are.

On top of that....at less than 10 miles an hour I'm supposed to have slammed the bumper in on this truck twice my trucks size at least an inch to an inch and a half. Even the red mud splatters going from their back tire across the back of the truck and onto the sides of the bumper seem undisturbed, all in perfect symmatry with one another.

Ever feel like the victim of a perfectly placed scam?

In the meantime the cop speaks to them at length and doesnt speak to me much at all. He goes over their bumper with a fine tooth comb. His view of my bumper consisted of walking over to my truk and placing papers on the hood so he could write on them. He makes dead certain they have my insurance info. I didnt find out until after everyone had left the scene that the papers he handed me didnt have theirs at all; I dont even have the names of the people I hit. I'm going to have to get it off a police report.

And before you think I'm all paranoid, I knw what the cop's problem is. He didnt like my hair, the way I was dressed, and there was an obvious case of stupid callous youth vs these respectable old people going in his head.

And to add insult to injury he writes me a citation and give me a lecture of keeping two car lengths between vehicles at all times. Even when stopped at a stop light. Silly me, I was supposed to have two car lengths there at a red light. I feel so dumb for not knowing this.

I've already called the claims adjustor and reported the situation. I told them what I thought was going on. Not much else I can do. They said they would check to see if the bumper was new damage, or old damage I got stiffed for ever-so conveniently, but there are no guarantees, and any way you look at it my insurance is going up.

Sucks! If you have your shit together when you get to court the judge might let you off... I think the judge is always impressed when somebody actually does have their shit together. Traffic court can be pretty amusing.

Two breats, eh?
