Gee, it's no tragedy when somebody dies at the end of a long and fulfilling life, but I'm still truly saddened that Broadway legend Barbara Cook has passed away at age 89. I had the privilege of seeing her perform live in London many years ago, and I love her rich, golden, glorious swinging voice. I guess few people on here even know her name or care that she's gone, but I'm literally in tears as I type this.
So, here's a nice melancholy Amanda McBroom song she sang in her own wonderful style...
Late edit: Here she is in a 1955 TV appearance from "Oklahoma" - Many A New Day

Thank you. I had no idea.

I understand and I'm sure anyone that has been deeply touched by an artist does as well. I had the same reaction after Luciano Pavarotti passed; I was definitely bummed for a few days. Some people seem to simply make this world a little brighter and better place. I believe anyone that is well-remembered is not truly or completely gone.
