Because here in Germany we get Easter Monday off, it technically still is Easter, even if just barely. So, here's hoping y'all had a lovely Easter! Mine is bookended, as it were, by two birthday celebrations - my wife's grandma celebrated her 92nd birthday on 03/02 and we're celebrating my wife's great aunt's 90th this coming Friday. At that age, birthdays are kind of a mixed blessing, I suppose...you're glad you're still around (though complaining that you don't really want to live any longer) but most of your friends are long gone and you can be happy to still have some family. In grandma's case, this year at least was a happier celebration than last year's, that one took place in the nursing home, which was a dispiriting experience.
Apart from that I'm not looking forward to the work week, shortened though it is. I made the mistake of checking my office mail over Easter, and read some bitchy back-and-forth mails between colleagues... and the week is blocked with exams, culminating on Friday in what is sure to be an awkward graduation and alumni ceremony. I'll be glad when this week is over!
The one event I'm looking forward to this week is Rand Paul's announcement of his candidacy for the GOP nomination, expected to take place in Louisville on Tuesday. Of all the potential candidates, he's the one I'm most excited by - I think he speaks to a younger generation, he's inclusive, he doesn't have that musty social conservatism, I feel he'd make a great contrast to Hilary Clinton in every way. Of course, there's no telling if he'll get the nomination. But for what it's worth right now, I'll be happy to Stand with Rand :-)
yeah, I like Rand Paul. I prefer Ron. But I infinitely prefer Rand Paul over Jeb Bush.
90 and 92 year old lassies! Your wife comes from strong stock. <3
