I've really been slacking on the updates lately but today I don't have a performance until 11:00 PM so I have plenty of time to kill. All I'm really doing right now is sitting around in some stolen/borrowed pajamas, drinking tea, eating M&Ms and browsing the internets.
So here are some answers to the questions people asked in my blog.
quietlythere: What got you into running?
SPOILERS! (Click to view)I was in university and thought that I needed to do something to stay in shape. I figured running was a good idea because I could do it on my own whenever I had time and all you really needed was a pair of shoes (this would make you laugh is you could see all the running accessories and gadgets I have now). So I started running. And after awhile it got easier and I actually started enjoying it. My first race was 5km. After that I wanted to see how far I could go. Now I want to do lots of long races. Preferably smaller ones where you don't see as many people as the really crowded races. So far, my longest race has been 56km (did that one twice) but I want to go longer. I'm aiming for this one eventually.
Death Race!
glass cat: I can't find my watch... do you know where it is?
FreakPirate: Where did you first hear some of your favorite bands?
SPOILERS! (Click to view)I'm not really sure where to start. I have so many bands that I like and I'll probably forget some and then wish I had mentioned them later. I'll just go with a few.
Starting with an old favorite. I first heard Tori Amos in grade 10. My friend Jim was really into it so we listened to it in his car a lot. I've been buying her stuff ever since. It reminds me of everything from
high school hijinks to failed relationships to
my first marathon.
The Weakerthans - I actually first heard then at the comic store where I work. My coworker had one of their cds in the changer but I didn't know who it was at the time. I did know that I liked it. Then one day I decided to play musical roulette and wrote down a bunch of my friends favorite bands and headed off to the music store and bought some.
Left and Leaving was one of the cds I picked up. I started listening to it in my car pretty much constantly after that. They will always remind my of my journey to Winnipeg. I loved it and hated it at the same time.
Jawbreaker - Also picked up in the great music experiment mentioned above. I had seen them mentioned by a few people I knew so I picked up
Dear You. I listened to it a whole lot while I was Christmas shopping this past year. Since them I've had to acquire the rest of their stuff because I'm pretty much addicted.
ChazStrummer: When is your next marathon?
SPOILERS! (Click to view)Hopefully soon! Touring this summer made it impossible for me to do some of the races I normally would have. Right now I'm hoping to run Seattle in late November. And maybe one a month before that if I can find something close enough. I've also been tossing around the idea of running Seattle and then running Las Vegas which is the next weekend. That would be fun.
I'd have to try to take the first one easy so I had something left for Vegas.
Calixte: Why the mohawk?
SPOILERS! (Click to view)I really think it looks good on me. I like how the sides feel. I hate having long hair. My hair is really fine and it just won't do anything. So I can have super short bits (yay!) and a manageable amount of hair that I can do fun stuff with. Like colour!
Non questiony stuff! Tour is almost over. We have a show tonight and then one on Saturday. I'm sticking around Edmonton until Monday morning and then FreakPirate won't have to deal with my stuff being all over the place anymore.
Edmonton has been fun and time is just flying by. I'm bracing myself for the inevitable post-show blues. I imagine it may be worse this time around because I won't be seeing my tour-mates nearly as often as I am used to. We have made a pact of sorts to still hang out and I think we will. Also, a tattoo of tour related stuff is in the works. I know I'll want to remember this summer forever.
Wow, I must've missed a lot!
When did your name change?
