I've been forced to do a lot of self reflection lately. I'm not entirely sure I'm pleased with that. I mean, in the long run it's probably good for me and it turns out that I'm less of an unfuckable shithead than I think but... there's stuff to work through and self improvement has not been one of my strong suits.

Work is insane. I'm...

Hi FP.  I know I haven't talked to you that much, but I wanted to say that I liked reading a lot of your board posts over the years.  Only now they're not boards any more, they're groups, and the new site, compared to the old one, doesn't seem to be optimized for an online community.  But, anyway, I often found your posts worthwhile, back in the old days.

Hey freak pirate I feel much the same as silver surfer. I hope life is finding you well.

Work pretty much destroyed me this week. I'm so far gone from tired and worn out that I've crossed into some kind of parallel exhaustion dimension.

My youngest brother is moving in with his girlfriend this weekend. My roommate is out on a date. I'm spending my Friday night with my cats, a beer and H.P. Lovecraft. While this isn't the worst evening ever, I...

I can't tell if I was always terrible at flirting or if this is a new development. Either way, it's annoying.

Work is busy. I'm not sleeping much these days. It's starting to wear me out.

Haha, it's on purpose! Dammit!

Even with the cramping I could have been back to work todaysmile My procedure didn't require any incisions outside my body.

Both of my cats passed away suddenly over the last month. Heartbroken doesn't even begin to describe it.

Work is mostly going well. The flooding in the city has thrown things into a bit of chaos.

My medication seems to work most of the time. Still some really hard days every now and then. The last three have been a bit of a rollercoaster.

I...

yay! awkward how, the flirting? i am bad at it too. mostly because i kind of always do it by accident, so i have little control over my aim. it's like messy shrapnel bomb.

I guess I should update since I actually have news.

I've been working for the last two and a half weeks. I got a job interview out of the blue and I'm working as a department head for a lighting equipment rental company. I spend my days listening to my music, testing equipment and packing it up to ship out for shows. It's a pretty...

Yeah same. I need to do some serious up close research. Also congrats on the job. I have an interview in 2 hours!!!

Another successful show under my belt. Even though I've been working with these people for five years now, it's still weird getting all of the thanks and praise. It's just my job and there are dozens, if not hundreds, of people here who could do it just as well, if not better. Work on the next show starts very soon. Still unemployed. I should probably...

Yes, I can see how that would be a bit of a problem...

(I just started reading A Game of Thrones today, and I can already tell that it's going to suck me in. In some small ways, it actually reminds me of Dune.)
radiofrank:
So it's much like any other adaptation, then. I can live with that.

(I just started the second book. So far, so good.)

So... three months went by.

I turned 29. I'm quitting my shitty, soul (and knee) crushing job at the end of the month. I have no backup plan yet but I'm sure I can work something out. My off and on roommate is back up in Edmonton for a few weeks so I'm alone with the cats again. It's always strange switching between having someone...

Good luck with that. Uncertainty can be so stressful.

I've really just been working, reading and drinking too much for the last month. The march towards full on grumpy old man status progresses.

It's not a tv show, per se; it's a series of 10 - 12 minute videos on YouTube that may or may not get picked up and turned into a series. I remember you telling me about your frustration with the finale, but I think you might like it.

What else is on your list of shows?

So, I've been back from vacation for a few weeks. I guess I could talk about it.

Vancouver was lovely. More importantly, vacation was lovely. I haven't had a real vacation since 2009 and my sweet, fuzzy Lord was it nice to not think about work for a few days.

Aquarium

I didn't go to the aquarium on my visit in 2006 so that was...

Two weeks from now, I'll be sitting in Vancouver. It's my first vacation in three years and I could not be more excited. There are going to be museums, good food, drinking, karaoke and, most likely, my first tattoo since I was 19.

Work has been slowly driving me into the ground but the promise of time off has helped me get through the last...

It's time for my monthly check-in so that you know I haven't died.

There's really nothing exciting going down here. I spend most of my time watching TV or reading. If you're looking for good books, I would highly recommend anything by Christopher Brookmyre. The audiobooks are incredibly good.

I've also spent a decent amount of time having pointless internet fights with friends of friends...
