Hello to all the new followers, and thanks for all the love on my front page set by @dwam !

It's been an intense time since I last posted! I wrote some books in the summer and got a book deal with an amazing publisher. The first one comes out in 2016. I installed a huge photo commission of 11 huge prints on aluminum that...

The highest form of love is compassion, which is the recognition of the intrinsic value and connection of us all. It is unconditional, it needs nothing, it is perfectly complete on its own. There can be no true compassion without self-compassion first, however. If you separate yourself from the compassion you give to the rest of existence you are buying into the illusion of separation...

Any insight on how to maintain compassion when faced with other aspects of the oneness that inspire loathing (Humans who perpetrate barbarism and multiplication of suffering, or just in-laws in general)? I find that the best I am capable of is really thinly veiled pity.

Congrats on the new set!

I just realized it's been about 10 years since I submitted my first photos to SG. Crazy. I still only shot film back then.

Being your true, happy, amazing self is easy and natural once you let go of what is holding you back. All you need to do is let go of what is not you. This process is simple but powerful.

First, recognize that what is negative is not you. These are things imposed on you by society, family, school, etc. Products of fear and pain. They...

I love love love your blogs. Your writing is a gift to the world, I don't care how cheesy it sounds.
zgrat:
It's never easy to recognize and admit your faults, but's it's necessary for personal growth.

How much fear do you hold? How much does it weigh? Take an honest look. How big is your fear, and how much of your life is dictated by it? This amount may be immense, but this is the immensity of your potential for transformation. This is the amount of amazing positive change you have been given the opportunity to create, in yourself and the...

The foundation for my creative practice, and life in general, is that deep down we are already creative, happy, healthy, beings—though we may have spent our lives piling on layers of doubt and pain, creating the illusion we are not. All we need to do is uncover the truth. Every day when you wake up, when you prepare to do an important task, or...

By my own very unscientific standards, my depression was severe. I often spent weeks lying around, unable to get dressed, brush my hair, or feed myself properly. I eventually got well enough to feel happy and productive most days, and now rarely experience more than the occasional hint of depression. How did I do it?

It started with meditation. I don’t think you need...

I know it was difficult at times and I was I could say it was so simple. My diagnosis is PTSD, any aspect in my life is difficult and all I want to do is stay inside even stay in bed some days. I always think of different ways to do what Robin Williams did. I do get some reality by getting on this site...I stay lonely!!!

I’ve been reprogramming my thinking habits lately, removing the clutter of thoughts that bounce around my head like a bag of squirrels. The ideal? The default setting on my mind is a clear and quiet consciousness, a complete presence in the moment. When I need thought it is for a clear purpose: calculating numbers, making a grocery list, or some other task that the...
