New job going great! Actually one of the best jobs I've had. The people are cool, lot's of good connections, and I get to play with music hardware and software all day!

Have also been taking Photography classes at a school called Tri-Community School of Photography. Very cool school and they offer many classes, all of which you can take for one semester fee. Since...

a comment for the commentless journal. sorry i was working all weekend or would have visited earlier. oh yeah and it WAS MY BIRTHDAY. (speaking of neglect). glad maudio is treating you well, let them know i'm looking for a job in paris/london/europe if they're hiring. i love their products (not just ass kissing, i just hate MOTU gear with a passion because it screws up in the most inopportune moments, like a concert that is being streamed to 3 different continents for example. ) i have a midisport 4x4---it is tried and true and lives through all beatings and hell and still lives to tell the tale. oh and i got my linux box to recognize a Delta 410 even though it wasn't tested with ALSA drivers. YEah. Now i have analog dvd audio out of my linux box for my thesis project. get me a job yo!

Strange, strange life...

So I was in a panic because I thought I was going to lose everything, but thanks to elisabeth's advice to just pick myself up, dust myself off and have faith in myself, things have turned around a bit.

I've been working for myself the last year or so which I liked, but is also dangerous which is why I wound up...

Why so sad you all ask? Did you read the previous journal entries? (I guess most people do not)

I was cheated and screwed by the person I was working for two weeks ago. I now have two days left to pay my rent or I will be evicted. I have no money what so ever (because I tried to help someone else out a...

hi again. i am drawn to genuine people and it is indeed rare. anytime you show up in nyc, ask me if i'm in any concerts then. if not, i have a couple on video, although it's not the same. if we meet and you're not creepy, you could even stay here!

well, maybe.
elisabeth:
Rather than focusing on loss, think about what you are gaining. It may sound insane, but think about it for a bit.

Pick yourself up, dust yourself off, and have faith in yourself. You've made it this far, and it can always be better, but you know what? It could be a hell of a lot worse.

That which doesn't kill us makes us stranger.

Well, these past two weeks have been really shit and it keeps getting worse.

To pay the rent I do basic freelance web design and I had this permanent client who has just flaked on me and decided not to pay me anymore. The guy turns out to be a thief and a liar.

This just comes at a very bad time because rent is...

genshi:
Unfortunately there is no slack because my building is run by one of those Property Managment companies and they just don't care how good you are... three days late, and there's an eviction notice on your door regardless of your excuse!

And again it's unfortunate that I can't just flop on someone's couch for awhile because:
a) I don't have anyone (both my parents passed away a couple of years ago) and
b) even if I did have someone, I currently live alone and sleep on the couch of my two bedroom apartment because all of my studio gear takes up the two bedrooms! That's how much stuff I have.

I just have a whole lot to lose and I've never been in this position before (to this extreme) and now I'm in panic mode because even if I go back and find a regular day job TODAY (which is not that easy to do) I wouldn't get a big enough first check in time for my rent... Fuck! How did this all happen!?!??!

In other news, I just joined both the site and your robot group and both are everything I hoped for and more biggrin Great discussion and oh-so-cool people.

Damn! Why are there so many assholes in this fucking world!? Even on this site! I am really getting sick and tired of all this pretentious arrogance from these little fucks that want to criticize me for one or two little grammatical errors or want to argue not because they have any point, but just for the sake of argument. This isnt fucking Harvard! Its...

oh my god gensh where did you get that picture? it rocks. are you going to Swingers tomorrow night? I will be there! will you? ok well I hope I see you. I'll probably be the only asian girl with black hair, haha.

hey you can rant all the hell you want, I do it all the time! that is what we're here for. yes that is really dumb that kids do that. When ever I'm in chat or something I'll always mess up and I feel like I need to correct myself because they'll tease me if I don't.

It doesn't really bother me that much but I can see how it can get annoying with someone sitting there with an internet highlighter waiting for your next mistake instead of listening to what you have to say. boo on that.
cubistic:
Well I never give people crap for grammatical errors, although I do sometimes argue just for arguments sake (I do make sure that I have a point to that argument though). So I apologize if I pissed you off in Living with Robots. smile

I do have a couple questions for you though: what kind of equipment do you use for music production? What sort of style do you usually produce? What kind of songs have you been remixing?

Just asking due to the fact that a friend of mine and I are starting to acquire gear (until now we've just been using software), and figured I'd see what you recommended.

The thing is, ever since it came into being I wanted to join your group. Unfortunately the grievous grammar error in the description has kept me away... though I see it has been fixed.

the schifrin double was a cool piece, as i recall. they never "got around to" getting me my score back, which stinks because lalo autographed something nice on it about my playing before we left his house. i remember seeing all that goonball stuff in people's yards in beverly hills, and somehow the stupidest thing of all was a lemon tree. it was like a giant silicone boob. just, something that shouldn't be there. i ramble. or digress. one of the two.

hi, electronic music kid here too. oh and since there's a shifrin thread on your journal today thought i'd add that david shifrin's recording of the quartet for the end of time is the best ever. hope you feel better. Man... I am REALLY craving French Toast!

The best French Toast I've had so far is at DuPar's at the Farmers Market here in Los Angeles (3rd and Fairfax). Apparently there is another place there that is DuPar's competitor when it comes to French Toast, but I can't remember their name and I haven't tried them yet... but boy, I sure am craving some French...

Hey, thanks for starting "Living With Robots." It's the best group I've seen so far!

And, yeah, those bananas kinda creep me out, too. But I think that's part of their appeal.

I'm reading bits and pieces of "The Hero With a Thousand Faces" by Joseph Campbell and listening to Depeche Mode's "Greatest Hits" ('cause I'm lame like that). It's not so good a combo. But it'll do.
