Gather round, kids, and let me tell you about today's adventure... Up at 4:30am, drove for 3 hours from NJ to make sure to catch the ferry from New London, CT to Block Island, RI. Our boss and his wife opened a coffee and cheesecake shop on the island and a couple of us decided we'd surprise him with a visit. The look on his face was priceless and he said 'holy shit' when we walked in at 9:30. Totally worth the trip. So here I sit 18 hours later, got home an hour ago. Long drive home in traffic. The island was really laid back and nice, he took an hour off and gave us a tour and we met his dog, Dudley, a labradoodle. We were even on the same ferry back as him, which we didn't realize when we booked it. He does the 4 hour commute every weekend after working all week at our office. Really good cheesecake and coffee tho, I think they will do quite well for themselves. Overall, a fun, but exhausting day, especially for me, the driver. bed time.
Edit: The entertainment of choice on the ride up was the comedy of George Carlin. RIP. Your brilliant wit and commentary on society will be sorely missed.
