I have the day off today because I went to the stupid Giants game last night and watch them lose. Which sucked. Anyhow, I got a call on Friday that Fluffy's cremated remains were ready to be picked up so I thought today was a good day to go and get them. The vet is a 40 minute drive each way so I set out around 10:30 to try to avoid rush hour and lunch traffic and actually did for once. They give you the remains in a wooden box wrapped in tissue paper in a gift bag with a certificate of authenticty. It's a nice presentation. In fact, the box is so nice I'm not sure I want to bury her right away, I may leave it out for a while so I can say goodbye to her.

Anyhow, I also asked about the leopard print mat that I brought her in on. I figured I'd wrap the box in it when I bury her since it was her favorite. One of the vet techs came out and said that it was in the back but Tripod, an older, deaf cat with three legs (hence the name) had fallen in love with it and was fast asleep on it. She is one of the cats that lives at the vets office. They offered to move Tripod, wash it and return it to me, but I didn't think that was right. I decided that Fluffy's mat was now Tripod's mat and that it's better that it be used and loved by another cat the way Fluffy loved it.
