i'm going to see grandaddy and the fire theft tomorrow in dallas. it's a venue we've never been to... so... good times, good times. i'm seeing so many good shows lately, i hardly remember i live in oklahoma.
money made tonight: $not all that much
music on the ride home: sunny day real estate
mood: sleepy. i love sleeping.
high: probably
snacking: hummus and crackers
****************************
today has been an awful, drizzly, completely grey day. the only thing that drew me from the comforts of my warm and dry east side abode was the sale on guiness and harp at joe's place liquor. my roommate and i purchased $80 in alcohol. let spring break begin.
last night was excellent {except for when i had to piss behind a public building, that wasn't very cool}. i went to a new venue in dallas that is this historic theatre turned modern indie-hipster place... i damn well came near to being rejected at the door for my belt. it's studded and i was told i could "take it off and hit someone with it and hurt them". i also had a chain necklace on {a very small one at that} that aroused suspicion... the deviant nature of which wasn't explained to me. i guess there's no punk rawkers allowed at this place. young guys with hairdo's that copy the strokes, however, seemed to have been encouraged because they were all there. maybe they got in free, i dunno. anyway, i was begrudgingly let inside. we missed half of the fire theft's {jeremy enigk and a couple of original members of sunny day real estate}act, but luckily saw enough to reconfirm jeremy enigk as one of the best male vocalists ever... that's right, even thom yorke has some competition.{knife knife knifin' around} jeremy sounded amazing live. i didn't care about the middle band, saves the day. :::yawn::: i drank the majority of the beers i had during that set. the headliner was grandaddy.... and in the words of carl, "it kicked ass!". one of my friends and i were let in to the area in front of the stage by a security guard for reasons not given, but i got close enough to the stage i could have hit the lead singer with my belt. and when i bought a cd from the merch table, the guy selling things was smoking pot under the table, so even he was pretty cool. the only bad part about the whole thing was driving 3 hours home.
and to think, i go back next week to see sonic youth...
