This is an extremely interesting Homework topic @rambo @lyxen and @missy
I get a lot of comments at my work with my piercings in my face, my hand tattoos and my hair. I get discrimination comments a couple of times a week, other times not so much... Ive learnt to brush it off but sometimes its just takes that one comment that make me so mad I have to walk out the back and blow off steam.
When used to have my snake bites I would get comments like:
"How do you kiss your boyfriend with all that shit in your mouth?" Or "All that metal in your face makes you ugly.". Ive had customers who refuse to be served by me with my appearance. But my parents still love me, are proud of me, still think I'm pretty with all my ink and metal. So thats really all that matters to me.
Ive been refused from nightclubs because of my hand and finger tattoos. The worst discrimination I've encountered with looking they way I do, I was looking to move into a unit complex with a best friend of mine. I applied through body corporate and I moved all my stuff in because I've had perfect rental history.
I was told from body corporate that I wasn't allowed move in because other residents had complained about the way I looked. They didn't want "someone who looked like me" living in the complex.
Im a manager at my retail store I work at, I run 2 departments. I work full time, I pay my bills and own my own car. I wish people would keep their mouths shut about the way I look and the way other people want to look.
Everyone has the right to express themselves with tattoos, hair colour, piercings. Wether gay or straight. With makeup even if you're a boy or a girl. The way you see yourself is the most important. Fuck what others say. As hard as it is to do just try to brush it off and keep your head high!! Thats what I tell myself every time someone makes a comment about my appearance. You're better then them.
YOU'RE BEAUTIFUL BABY!! <3
