I suck.
This weekend, I got some artwork done for a comic book I'm working on with a friend. I messed around with my website and ending up causing more problems than I resolved.
But no new script!!! What the fuck?! I write, that's what I do. How could I not have written anything this week like I said I would?

You got some things done. More than I can say.
GOAL:
I will write this week. I haven't written any new scripts in awhile, and I need to get back into a daily writing discipline.
It's too easy to get distracted with journaling, blogging, visiting message boards, writing articles for other people's websites, and never get around to working on your own stuff. Not good.
By Friday, I will have a new script.

I have to write everyday. I have learned my lesson too well.
Have you ever visited Jizzikah's journal? She is pregnant right now and talks about it in her journal. She just had her first ultrasound. She is in Austin.

Hmmm... Ain't it fun when people know so much more about how you feel than you do? Had theis girlfriend once who wouldn't let me... Well, maybe this isn't an appropriate story for someone else journal. I won't tell it cause it'd offend you and you wouldn't want THAT now would you?
*smirk*
Read Demo #1... Not bad. Seemed a little lacking in something, but I'm not really sure what. Felt like a prologue to a larger story. Brought up FAR more questions than it answered.
But I'm an overly analytical sort, eh?

Offend me? Sounds like a challenge.
Yeah, Demo #1 was an isolated prologue-- but I think with the other issues it will put #1 in context.

I bought DEMO #1. It was really good. Even if you're not a comic book reader, at least check this one out.

ok..i looked through this at the store yesterday, but did not buy. i'll give it a second look.
Working on a comic book with my friend Roxanne from Toronto. It's titled "Childhood Enemies". Two true stories about how evil kids can be towards one another.
I'm collecting anecdotes from people about their own childhood enemy to be including as a filler page for the comic. If you want to be included, just add your comments...

royal t- yeah! does the suicide scene not give you the wiggies given the demise of elliot smith??

Damn it, now I've got to find some new friends.

Recently picked up Stupid Comics #2 by Jim Mahfood. Damn, it was such a good read.
Mahfood has an incredible sense of wit and satire.

Satire (n) A literary work in which human vice or folly is attacked through irony, derision, or wit.
I think about the literature that, for me, was truly formative back in high school. 90% of it was satire-- Catch-22, Matt Groening's Life in Hell, the work of Kurt Vonnegut and Douglas Coupland.
I really have not written enough satire.

I have turned down two book offers in the past because I got bad advice. I felt I deserved more for the amount of work I put into the books. This was when I was quite a bit younger. I was basically told: "you will never work in this town again." And I didn't care. Now I am thankful I got a "third" chance. And still I am scared to sign and take the plunge. I am such an introvert that the idea of being social with everyone from the publishing house president to the man on the street puts a chill through me.

I am embarrassingly extroverted. Fear not. The soft spoken author is almost iconic, and definately preferrable to the loud-mouthed huckster (that's me).
Obviously, it has to be your decision. But as long as it's YOUR words and YOUR work out there, the material will speak for itself. And maybe with the next project, you can pull more weight in the contract.
Do you have a literary agent to fight for you?
