So I'm going to start posting here more often. It's my mid-year resolution! But I want to post stuff I wouldn't put in my articles for the site or in my regular blog (http://hardcorezen.blogspot.com).

So now that I'm a free man, girlfriend-wise, I've decided to start dating. Well, actually I have started. Sort of. I think. Anyway, I keep hearing about people hooking up thru...

A journal of Buddhist dating? I'll be intrigued to see how that turns out!
Good luck with the hook up quest.

You are a wonderful teacher/monk. You show us how it's done by just putting it out there as honestly as you can. That's what wowed me with your third book. As someone who has sat mostly alone zazen for 5 years and gotten wonderful things out of it, and having gained a little through age, I find that real good things can happen by just being as honest as you can and sincere too. So I think that's probably the best way to meet someone on this site. I think as men, we were not socialized to do this, to be as open in relationships as we can and trust in this. So it's really been kind of a whole new direction for me, I know. Zazen just knocked over so much of the head stuff that got in the way.

I'm going on SuicideGirls radio this Sunday at 11 pm.

They ran a story about the show but forgot to mention I was on it.

I got a best-selling book out there.

Does anyone read?

I have been talking to the people at the Atlanta Soto Zen Center about doing something there in July. I'll post a notice on my blog (hardcorezen.blogspot.com) once this is confirmed. I don't know how far it is to Athens from Atlanta. Maybe you can help set up something there?
exclamationmark:
Well, I would love to, but I am not currently practicing Zen in any real capacity so I don't really have access to a space to set anything up with. I was actually hoping you would randomly be dropping by anyway. Sorry! I have considered taking zazen back up after finishing your book, but I haven't done that yet. So I'm not sure how I could help set something up as I have no pull with any groups or the university. Actually, I was wondering if you might say that I should set something up or something of the sort before I posted my comment and I would have nothing to say (which is the case), but I decided to post my comment anyway.

Perhaps I'll be able to get to the Soto Zen Center in the future though. It's a little over an hour away from Athens, which isn't too far. Thanks for replying to my comment, at least! It's cool to channel celebrity vicariously.

Here's something I put up on my regular blog on Veteran's Day. Maybe people here will enjoy it. Or hate it. Or whatever...

An interesting confluence of things came my way recently. Over the past couple of weeks I received three or four e-mails from people in the military saying how much they'd enjoyed my books. One was reading Hardcore Zen while stationed in Iraq....

I always really enjoy reading your articles and posts. They give me alot to think about and also a good dose of mental contentment for lack of a better term. I think what it is......come to think of it, is that you have a very assertive, positive way for sticking up for a person's point of view and for their honest determination in life. You see through the crap. Lately, in my own life, I have come head to head with a great many people who find it great to focus on everything wrong or chose to deal with everything in a way that's ....I don't know, selfish perhaps? It's really draining. To read your articles is like a breath of fresh air and reaffirms that, thank goodness, not everyone is like that. Thank-you!

I will be on CNN Newsroom Sunday on Sunday August 24, 2008 during their Faces of Faith segment at 7AM. I don't imagine they're gonna do the whole show just on me. So I'll be on sometime around 7-ish. I also don't know if that's 7AM throughout the country or just 7AM Eastern Standard Time, which'd make it 6 Central, 5 Mountain and 4 over...
