Go go Sunday Love,
Well I'm doing laundry and getting ready to head to work. So I'll talk about the bar. As some of you may know the safe at the bar where I work was stolen and along with that the 13,000 that was inside. Not to freak anyone out but you have to realize that life in NYC or any big around the world for that matter contains many levels of organization both legal and non-legal. Brooklyn in and of itself is the last frontier for what most people know as the Mob.
Dependin on where you live certain individuals are commonly known as being either related to, a part of, or working with. It's no big secret but it is, you know but don't dicuss, it's night and day, like breathing air, it just is. No big deal.
Well it becomes a big deal when someone steals 13,000 from a bar that may or may not have connections to an organization. Neddless to say I'm one of 5 people who would have access to pull a job like this. As much as I know I'm innocent it doesn't matter when the money is still missing. Last week on a certian day that thing that nobody talks about but eveybody knows happend.
I was asked to go to an apartment upstairs from the bar and along with the other possible suspects was interigated, and shaken down by you know who. The entire tiime I had a hard time keeping a straight face, for what I was listenging too sounded like a bad spin off of the Sopranos, yet it was really happening, and people were really pissed. I spoke and suggested that I too would be pissed if someone stole that much money from me, and that whoever it was should be taken of......literally.
The process continued and afterward we were told we have one week or the word goes out and that will be that for us regardless of if we did it or didn't do this robbery. Included in this speach was a line like "If I had it my way you'd be dead with a bullet between your eyes laying on the street corner as to let the whole neighborhood know that, ONE you don't fuck with me, and TWO, NOBODY FUCKING STEALS MY MONEY, and it was at this time that there was some yelling and beating of fists on table tops.
A few minutes latter I'm back behind the bar serving drinks and trying to convince a potential roommate that he should move in with me. And went on with my more less limited lifetime. Then I was pulled aside by the two gentlemen and asked to go out back. Where I was told that they knew I didn't do the crime and that they trust me and it's my job to now help them keep an eye on who they are sure did it. I was told that I'm a good worker and trust worthy and that I work on principle. I assured them that I would do my part and help them bring this to a conclusion.
This episode comes on top of countelss police visits and interviews by detectives. Everyone knows whoc could have done, the most obvious answer is always the right answer even if you can't prove it, and that is how things go. The unspeakable is left unspoken, instict guides reason and in a few days if the money does not turn up, a bluff will have been called by some would be gangsters or I will be a whitness to a reality of life I never imagined.
With that said I still need a roommate who wants to pay 750 a month, I have two cats and just hung a hammock in my lving room. I think it's time for me to go and put my clothes in the dryer, and I would love it if any of you came by the lounge tomorrow on Monday. I have an amazing Jazz Quintet playing what may be their last show at the lounge. As for me, I guess it is just another day. It's funny when life offers you so much and at the same time gives you almost no choices. Happy Sunday.
Peace and Blessings
