Two prescient ideas from my horoscope(s) this week.
"It's crucial to be extremely skeptical of every authority, expert and leader. You should express similar discernment toward those who present themselves as hip, high-staus, or special. It will be to your advantage to disrespect hierarchies and become a devotee of pure democracy..."
And:
"Renounce grandiose fantasies of transforming lead into gold or frogs into soulmates..."
Amen, I say. Amen.

Painting: Two verticle "gothic camoflauge" canvases. Hardlined monochrome strip at bottom, one yellow, one cobalt blue, with "g-c" monotyping layers on upper translucently mottled layered white and dolphin grey atmospheric plane. More work tomorrow on the 30"x40".
"Petrovsky" study. White g-c in middle of semi-gloss black, taped off hard edged bands at top and bottom, so upper and lower black frame around image.
Initial sketches for "Joseph Beuys" paintings. Tall, narrow verticle rectangles. Bloodclot brown, ochre, pale blue-white, and sepia(?)...various floating hard-edged rectangles and bands within the taller rectangles. Pictures within pictures. Still working on placement of internal fields and color distribution.
Maddening sculpture block. Guess it's just not time. Problem is, I've found everything I need sculpture-wise in the work of others'. There it is, that's what I'm looking for...why should I do it? Noguchi minimally worked Asian monoliths. Eva Hesse's latex-organic other-wordly strange/familiar/modern/antique formless forms. Schnabels "Idiota" grand-cross battle standard, and "Sail" in all its crude-cloth patchwork ship-beam disintegration. All lovely work. And I'm dumbfounded. Again, it's just not time...it'll come when it comes...
No worries. In the meantime paint paint paint....write write write!!!
