"Wow. That's why I love this site. Just when I think I'm unique, and open-minded, I talk to people, like you. And am totally put back in my place."

I was never meant to be famous. I'll have to try something obscure next, I suppose... wink
franie:
How do you respond to that?

It strikes me I've had as many health problems/serious injuries in the last 9 months as I think I had in the previous 10 years.

I think someone may have put a jinx on me...

I have no medical expertise, whatsoever. So you can trust me when I say that, you're gonna be just fine.
tadkil:
hmmmm....

How do you counter that?

I've been using OK Cupid to meet folks here in Edinburgh. Currently have gone out with 2 Scots, both of whom boast of being perverts and mentioned having dungeons in their homes (I think the first guy takes the cake though, he's like De Sade reincarnated. Kept feeling like Kate Winslet in that movie "Quills" -- going to end up dead in a washtub for...

Yikes.
geekyfox:
Haven't thought to try iStockphoto but will give it a look and Redbubble, cheers!
I figured it'd be easier to have the download option, saves finding deals on prints and postage and packaging costs.

All very cool things!

Greetings from York! Today I was mostly on the train, then in the afternoon I arrived at my B & B. I walked around the walls and saw the Shambles (a medieval street) and looked a little bit at the Minster -- I'll probably view it in more detail tomorrow.

York is a beautiful city, I really hope you enjoy it, hope your ear infection is all healed up now, take carekiss

It's too bad I look so ugly with glasses on, yet need them if I want to see more than a couple feet. I caught an accidental glimpse of myself when pulling out my phone to take a picture and the camera was for some reason flipped to show my face instead of whatever I was pointing at. I look like Velma from Scooby-Doo, but...

That is an interesting opinion. Maybe something else is causing the issue? smile

Glasses are hot.

Nothing but Hoboes... A great name for a book about romantic expectations and the fucked-up reality we all face.

Everyone must read this. (Okay, not really -- and in fact I suspect a lot of people won't really like it that well. I think the comic where Torchy goes to fat camp because she needs to lose 7 ounces and discovers a famous actor is dressing like a ghost to scare women away from the fat camp kind of says it all.)
tadkil:
That was mildly twisted.

Ended up walking to the emergency department (a rather long walk) -- oddly I felt better during and after the walk than I did when I was sitting. Got antibiotics... I hope they will help; and I hope I'm just hallucinating this itchy feeling or something and it's not the antibiotics because I don't want to have to go there again tomorrow...

Today my ears felt better than they had been, but still not good, and my hearing is getting worse again. And also the garlic I'd been taking to help recover more speedily seems to be having its own side effects -- this morning the skin around my eyes was all stinging and a touch puffy after I took some garlic, and I assumed it was...

Time to get it all worked out. Death by garlic would be tragic! smile

Strong reaction to garlic... penchant for dark clothing.... aversion to sunlight....

It's all becoming quite clear. You need fresh blood, is all.

Called the NHS 24 hotline last night, and I am a little confused by the advice they gave... was told to take paracetamol but if that didn't help to go to the emergency room. Except, the trouble isn't really with pain, per se, so I'm not sure if it's helping or not... I called the Minor Injuries Clinic to see if they'd be an appropriate...

That last one is a privilege, not a burden.

I think you're probably right about the antibiotics.

It's interesting... I notice that, here in Scotland, men will kiss each other (particularly when drunk.)

Still kind of going to and fro on being recovered from that ear infection... my hearing is improving, I can hear the crunchy noises when cars drive by again. It still sounds muffled when I hum to myself though. I went out today to the National Gallery thinking that...

The National Gallery is really cool, and really big, so no surprises that it didn't offer you any reprise from that whole walking thing. I thoroughly enjoy your casual use of the word "abed", though.
geekyfox:
Pretty much every bar in Edinburgh does karaoke, however it's very unlikely any of them are actually good, hence the need to be drunk.
