Okay, seriously everyone: What is up with the movie Donnie Darko? I hate this movie. It's so boring, it had absolutely no plot, but just about everyone I know thinks its the most fantastic thing ever. Is it another of those movies you need to be watching on drugs or something?

Haha, I also do not understand why everyone loved the film so much.
annalee:
This has drawn me to the disturbing realisation that this film came out 11 years ago. I do remember liking it at the time but then I was only 17 years old. And might have been on drugs.

Having a tougher time than expected getting back into my old corset. I think 19 inches may be as small as I can do anymore, and even that's not very comfortable... I've always had a problem, especially with tight corsets, with how the laces are right over your spine, it's always pinching nerves and causes the laces to cut into your back. I often have...

I've decided to be Sargent's "Madame X" for Halloween this year. This means I need to learn how to cram myself back into my 18 inch corset, since it's the only one with the right kind of shape (not to mention to give the right proportions.) I have it at about 19 already, maybe in a day or two I'll be ready to make the...

And it appears to take about 6 weeks back in New Mexico before you're too depressed to do anything. Woo.

Awww that's too bad. Most folks in Scotland would kill to see a fiery New Mexico sunset. Heck I do believe I'd fork over a days pay for a Lotaburger with green chili and cheese right now. Maybe it'll get better. I hope so. smile

Going about operation: remove freckles!

Contrary to assurances that the tanning and freckles from last summer would fade, even after a winter in Minnesota, a springtime spent moping inside a trailer, and a summer mostly spent in abnormally chilly Europe with a big jacket on, and high SPF sunscreen all around, my freckles and tans are not going away.

For now it's Likas soap and...

I'm proud to present a series of articles I wrote on the subject of Mary King's Close!

There seemed to be few legitimate history articles about the topic. If you are unfamiliar with the place, the first post about what Mary King's Close is might be the place to start. My own favorite to achieve was that of tracking down the history of Mary King's...

Wow!!! I ave some good news --

I don't know HOW I did it, but somehow, I managed to earn more than enough money to pay off my travel expenses right away! This means I have to have some how mysteriously earned like $2,000 in a month... again, don't know what I did, but it's great news!

    Irn Bru
    Tunnock's Caramel Wafers
    Scotch Whiskey
    Gleyva
    Haggis
    Haggis Pie
    Haggis Nachos
Potato with Sandwich Filling (Egg salad)
    Scottish Butter Tablet
    Hot Toddy
    Fried Mars Bar

Any other Scottish food to try before I go? (Other than black pudding, that's something even I haven't stomach for.) The only other thing I particularly want to try I can think of is Cranachan.

Irn Bru was okay. I don't usually drink a lot of soda, but I thought it tasted like a better than average orange soda -- more fruity tasting.

Meanwhile, here's some Scottish comedy...

It's in "The Caves" at Cowgate in Edinburgh, on the City of the Dead Tour (you can pretty much only access the Caves through guided tour.)

I wonder if you get honorary Scot status if you manage to get a tan in Edinburgh. I don't know how I got enough sunlight, there's been scarcely a day without rain, but I got tan lines on my feet in the shape of my shoes.

You can hardly aspire to be an honorary Scot until you have tried Irn Bru!! biggrin
