When it rains..
..it fucking pours.

I've been meaning to write something more substantial, since I've actually done things. But work has been throwing me for a loop. I feel so run down and worn thin. I'll be happy when everything levels out, but man, I can't imagine keeping my sanity til then.

And if all of that wasn't enough I seem to be having...

Any word on how that job prospect is looking???

I planned on a new blog full of things and stuff. But I've been sidetracked. I have many things to do this week.

I accidentally stumbled upon my dream job...its far away and I know I only have a slight chance of landing it, but i plan on trying anyway. i think its worth moving my husband and everything I own across land.

I'll keep...

It was great to FINALLY get to meet you guys yesterday. We have to do it again sometime. Seriously, you both have no choice. As soon as I get to Philly you're the first ones I'm looking up.

But yes ...

It looks like we just got out like, you know, a mosh pit, never mind we were standing in the middle of a sidewalk in front of an ice cream stand.

grimjack:
Ben text messaged me that you were in Brooklyn. Good show, I take it?

I've messaged you something like a dozen times on myspace. Not enough time to send something back?

So it begins...

....my odyssey to specialists and doctors. I've had two+ years without insurance to build up quite a menagerie of problems. Although...I do miss the days of your primary car doctor just giving you a handful of meds and sending you on your way. Now it seems there's a specialist for everything.

I was even told to get in touch with a therapist....

What happens in September?
lufy:
I'm okay....a little nervous about the start of school. I'm not emotionally ready for it - this has been a WAY short summer for me.

Speaking of emotional states - I'm sorry about what you're dealing with. Sometimes I get really down, too, for no apparent reason. Lately, though, one thing that's helped is that when I feel depressed for an extended period of time, I try to think about all the people I know that genuinely care about me. And it helps, a little, to know that I'm not alone in this world.

You do have lots of people who care about you, you know.

I hope that helps a little. tongue

I love carnivals!
I've been knitting toques with 2 holes in the back to pull your pigtails through and some textile art pieces. I just did a piece for Frida Kahlo tribute show and I'm beginning to work on pirate theme piece for the Lowbrow on the High Seas show in September.

I'm so stressed out from work right now. I love it here, I love almost everyone I work with, I love the company. I just really wish that other people's stupidity wouldn't become my problem. Its driving me nuts. And believe me, these issues are just due to carelessness. People not paying attention to work or anything around them.

Besides all of the drama of...

EA president windbag

This article just ticks me off. I don't know why. Maybe because I get annoyed when the game industry tries its hardest to dumb down everything and make casual gamers feel at home.

Fuck casual gamers and their 8 million versions of Madden. They can all go screw. If reading and actually following a storyline is too hard for you then you...

I'm going to play devil's advocate here. I like my non-story line Pac-Man games. Me, a not overly bright casual casual gamer, completely of agrees with the article. I still think the most fun games ere those 16 bit Nintendo games. There was two buttons and that was it.

The limitations, I thought, forced game makers to be more creative. You have 16 colors to work with, your soundtrack can only be made using midi, and that's it. You'd better have a good story line and be able to hold people's interest through it. Once technology came in, I really think game makers are relying on it more and more to make up for their creative shortcomings.

Every time I find myself browsing through the new video games to see if something catches my eye, everything looks like the same game but with different characters. Sure there's a handful of shining stars, but nothing really jumps at me. Yes, I can appreciate the hard work that went into building the game, yes I can appreciate that it really takes skill to be able to complete the game, but I kind of feel that a lot of them are using the mind blowing graphics to make up for lack of content.

Guitar Hero and that tennis game I got to play a few weeks ago on the Wii, I thought were brilliant. They're dirt simple games to understand and I don't have to keep referring to the instructions to figure out how to play it, but its challenging to get good at them. And the fun factor is completely there. If I'm playing a video game, I'm usually taking a break from thinking hard. I agree that America, in general, is getting dumbed down in every sense, but not everything has to be mentally challenging.

But yes, I do think its really ironic that the guy from EA games is the person who said that. I'm not into sports, but isn't all the packing on their sports titles identical?

How are you?
What are you knitting?
I love guitar hero, fun times!

So I'm sitting at the bar.

(no lie..ALL of my stories start that way)

And two young men come up behind me to order a drink. They don't look horribly young, but are carded anyway. One gentleman immediately says "I was born in 86, I can drink!"

I think my insides died a tiny bit.

Seriously...when did I become 10 years older then the drinking...

yes but at least you don't look 10 years older.
jena:
Oh I understand...I covered a shift at this local dive bar (it was a horror) and thought I would shit when I found out I was a decade older than the cretan I was covering for. It was kind of scary b/c she was so gross and obviously in trouble with alcohol & drugs...oh how wiser are the older. Well in that case at least. Oh and better looking but duh.

Retorts to your quiz answers!

1. The Croc Hunter actually died on my birthday, how do you think I felt!? It was the topic of conversation at my little family party last year. frown

2. Hey, of course I was born in the year of Sanrio as well! How I miss the Twin Stars! They were one of my most favorites too.

3. When is the final SIren? Or at least I heard it's the last. I am not a fan of festival shows. Last Siren I went to I spent all of my time doing the boardwalk. smile

I'm trying to boycott my dad too who is, well, a dick. As well. When my job laid me off, I asked him to drive me home from work b/c I obviously couldn't get my usual monthly train pass. Well now I am un-laid, and back on at only 2 days buttt...this means I can cheerfully tell him to stick it, so I don't need to deal with his sour b.s. anymore. Neither of us is lucky. blackeyed

My employer was sweet enough to let all of their employees have off the whole 4th of July weekend. So that is including today and tomorrow.

My husband, having sympathy vacation love, took the same days off.

What do we have planned?

Nada...nothing...
Because everything seems to cost money. Seriously...when did everything on planet earth get ridionkulously expensive?

So..since I have nothing of real merit...

Enjoy your time off together smile

Normally I like just going out driving somewhere, but anymore I give second thought to it simply cause I hate having to buy gas at the insane prices these days.
illstabyou:
I've actually put more thought than I should have into Jesu. I've come to the conclusion that they were so terrible when I saw them because they probably just got into the country like 20 minutes before they played, were borrowing everyone else's instruments, and Justin Broadrick never played with his bass player and drummer before that show. Or not. That's what I keep telling myself. I'll see them again in a second when they come around again.

And thank you for posting about High On Fire/Mono. I'm so there. That's a kind of odd bill, but yeah.

Gosh, I feel like such an old scenester posting this. Blarg! smile

And I'm so jealous of you and your husband's time off. I don't think I've had a day off in close to a month now. So sooo jealous.

The new Grand Theft Auto Trailer is seriously making me swoon.

I cannot get over how great their faux NYC looks! Holy god almighty! They even have Coney Island in there.

Sigh.

I think I need a cold shower now.

No fireworks at all...no family, nothing! What a shit holiday.

It's been me & Law & Order all day & night.

What did you do?

jena:
Wait, why were you embarrassed by missing your dad's call? Mine called me early to cancel any supposed holiday plans. For a moment I suspected they only invited me to play-polite, knowing they weren't having anything (thereby canceling was really no big deal). I know I'm sounding crazy, but I've been hung up to dry by them so much lately.

It's coming down here now too...

Definitely. Summer must shine. But I have a prediction, just by how mine is going going thus far, that it's going to be a summer of survival. I think there's going to be a lot of obstacle courses and one challenge will be to make changes, new endeavors for survival.

I'm wacky. blush

I Hate Summer!

Ok, that's a bit harsh. I strongly dislike summer. Summer and I are not on speaking terms.

Between the hot sun, bugs, and massive amounts of people everywhere there's not much to like. The only highlights are days off, longer amounts of sunlight, and air conditioning.

Some of my mental tasks to be completed before summer is over..

- knit two sweaters....
