You know what? It's summer and that means its finally its warm outside.
Quit bitching about the heat...shut the fuck up.
Would you prefer the 7 months of cold, rain & cloud we just had?

Hey, kiddo - has it really been a year?

Man, I don't know how school has treated you - but I just finished the year from hell. blackeyed Thank God for summer.
lufy:
Yep. I work at a private, boarding school. Certain aspects of the job are a lot like James Bond's. You know, "Subject to the requirements of her majesty the Queen." Only it's subject to the requirements of the evil headmaster and I don't get anywhere nearly the same amount of gadgets or hot chicks.

....and I'm not a spy.

But other than that it's exactly the same.

I do like coaching, though. I feel it adds a rather unique dynamic to the classroom. I get to know my students much better - and they get to know me much better - so the "wall" that often separates teachers and students is often significantly reduced. The key is to remember that even though the wall may not be there - you're still the adult and they're still the kid so you've got to act appropriately. But so long as you respect the inherent boundaries of the profession, coaching makes teaching a whole lot more interesting.

I just wish it didn't take so much $#%$%#ing time. blackeyed mad

So you surf? love Wow. I'm really impressed.

Sounds like a good time in deed.

In other news, I hate having huge debt.
sonofapunk:
Fucking cold!

That's insane!

I'm freezing my ass off inside my house right now, as we speak, and you're going to surf?! Criminy!!

I'm going to Tofino for the first time, in a few months, and I'm gonna try surfing (also a first). Should be fun! smile

I'm back!
Not too much is new. I've lost a lot of weight due to stress from my job, a relationship with a guy & the upheaval I experienced in the fall. But things are well & my friends & family love me!

I'm now home in Vancouver.
Here is a run down of my icky trip back to Calgary...

I slept in on Saturday morning as I didn't hear my alarm go off. I was so tired I slept through it. The cats woke me up.

I got to the airport & there were no luggage carts outside so I had to struggle into the airport with...

Right now I'm in Calgary to move my stuff back to Vancouver & tie up the last loose ends.
It's -25 outside right now.
I'm not leaving the house again until I go to the airport.

Amended at 2:30pm: Zenfish made me go outside.

Ah yes...That Pacific ocean air....

I need the ocean. Away from it, It's like an internal physical / psycological / emotional border. Touring thru the Praires made me understand why so many people who leave there end up on the coast. Or mustering in the navy.

That ever ending landscape can make you feel like you exist in some sort of quiet purgatory. Thank goodness you escaped back here for winter. You probably would have gone bonkers in jan in Alberta.

So it looks like I will be moving back to Vancouver in December. I have been allowed to teach on the sub list here in Calgary but I have such a bad taste in my mouth that I don't want to stay. I'll use my BC teachers signing bonus to move.

December works well because I can work a bit here & then move during...

Here is a run down of that has been happening over the past 5 days. I copied this from another blog I keep.

hvac is steel and tin ductwork, airconditioning, furnaces, stuff like that. Very in demand these days. actually all the trades are hugely understaffed, as old guys retire and the younger generation actually bought into that lie about how important a university education was going to be in the future. Because of course, once tons of people had one, it ceased to be valuable.

I realize I've been a bad SG Friend lately. I despise when life and career doesn't leave time for the people that really matter.

The Garlic turned into a fabulous Butternut Squash, Grilled Portabella Mushroom Lasagna which I made for a friends Birthday

I hope things work out for you
