It's a Friday night and I'm glad to be home. I was planning on going to the Time Bomb 77 show tonight at the Star Bar because it's a benefit for a girl whose house burned down. Apparently, after talking with a few old friends, a lot of people that I haven't seen in years are supposed to be there. I would love to go, but I'm really tired. Plus, I have to be at work at 8am tomorrow and it's 9pm right now and I've been at work for the past 9 hours. Sometimes it sucks getting old. lol
I have a guy at my work who sits in the cubicle next to me. He's that guy in every office who is the young guy who knows more than God about our job, but is a really annoying emotional asshole. He's one of those guys who can dish out insults and jokes, but when you dish them back, you wind up having to take sensitivity training classes (my boss had to take classes). Plus, he's a goth (that should tell you enough right there). Not that all goths are emotional freaks, but some are. We'll call him Goth Boy for now.
Anyways, I had a user call in and say their user account won't accept their password and the account is now locked out. They just need their password reset. Very easy fix and I've done it hundreds of times before. Apparently, goth boy decided that he is going to lock out everyone except for a few people so that only he and 2 others can do password resets in order to prevent people from accidently screwing something up. That's all fine and dandy and he can do that since he's the account lead for this client, but I think that if he's going to limit access, he should allow access to the people who work nights and weekends since we support this client on nights and weekends. I asked him "so what should I do in case a user needs a password reset and you or the other techs aren't here?" His response, "They can just wait". Now, if you are a pilot for a major airline, and you need to get access to your computer for various reasons and you call in on a saturday morning and are told you have to "just wait" until Monday morning for anything to be done about it, it makes me and my company look really bad. Plus, it could make our client lose money, and I really think if they are losing money, they aren't going to be spending money on our tech support business.
This was all brought up to the people in charge and I've just learned that changes are about to be made that I understand that I am going to like and goth boy isn't going to like. Sucks to be him.
Well, that's enough rambling for one evening. I'm gonna go watch a movie and get ready for a 12 hour shift of not resetting passwords tomorrow at work.
If anyone of you people that actually find me cool enough to be my friend or you just happen to be browsing around and you come accross my page, look for me online via Yahoo Messenger. My username is mikephagan.
