Man-I have the worst NyQuil hangover. I went to bed embarrassingly early and that's what I get. Woot. At least this time around I've got new books to read. I went to The Strand over the holidays and got myself some birthday presents: Confessions of a Sinner by St. Augustine, The Razor's Edge by Somerset Maugham, The Complete Poems of Catallus, and The Way to Paradise by Mario Vargas Llosa. Confessions was breaking my heart, so I started in on The Razor's Edge a couple days ago and have almost finished. I got everything for $25, so I'm going back again in February.![love](https://dz3ixmv6nok8z.cloudfront.net/static/img/emoticons/love.3be5004ff150.gif)
While my friend from Atlanta was here we went to Chinatown and Little Italy, bookshopped, saw The Spirit, refused drinks from lots of guys, and danced our asses off to old school hip hop. Christmas Eve we drank on the Lower East Side and sang karaoke. For Christmas dinner we ate at an Indian Chinese restaurant here in Jackson Heights. We stayed warm on New Year's Eve in a gorgeous place on the Upper East Side (unlike the idiots at Times Square).
I got a surprise petsitting job at the Plaza Hotel that financed my holiday. My family sent me a package from home loaded with gifts like new gloves, panties, pajamas, chocolate truffles, and a card from my grandpa that made me cry, it was so sweet. Overall I had a much busier holiday than I'd expected. I didn't have time to be depressed, but I did miss my family. Now here it is almost half-way through January!
So tonight I'm having skirt steak and chimichurri at Tabi's place.
Who's jealous?

Mushroom hunt was good. Ran across a patch of candy caps which was pretty exciting, considering. Nothing psychedelic
