Here’s another one from my Tumblr ask thingy:

ditrysia asked:

Hey Wil. Do you have any advice/tips for people with anxiety to calm down when they feel they are starting to freak out and might have a panic attack? I don’t know if that particularly happens to you but you seem to know a lot about dealing with mental health. Thanks.

I’m not a...

Thanks for this, Wil. The RATIONAL/IRRATIONAL is what I struggle with daily
lenoira:
This was an amazing read. I don't take medication anymore, coping is easier than it used to be.

I once played a great game of Microscope with some friends, where we were telling the story of a colony that arrived in a foreign place, tried its best to establish itself, but was ultimately destroyed by a native species. Some of the rules were that it existed in a liquid state, we had no high technology, and that we didn’t know where we came...

Hope you continue to improve.

Get well soon, Wil!  Being sick sucks so much.  Personally, my immune system is incredibly terrible.  Like any time I go out around a crowd of people, I end up sick.  I always get con crud too!  I hate watching other people being sick too.  It makes me feel so badly for them.  I hope you're on the mend!  Also, I owe you a beer at San Diego Comic Con this year since we missed each other last year!

So I do this ask me thing on the tumblr thing, and this came up today:

methodoflogicalmadness asked:

Which format of D&D would you recommend for a new playgroup? I have previous experience with Pathfinder, but we are considering jumping into 5th ed. From what I've gathered, 5th ed. streamlines many features with its advantage/disadvantage system, but I was wondering if there are many flaws...

I would still be playing the Eye of the Beholder games, and the Bard's Tale games, if I had a computer they would work on.  There's always something about some old school D&D though, with a character sheet, a pencil and some dice.
man_of_grogg:
Still gotta throw back to add 2nd ed. I love you whil wheaton and all things you stand for btw.

Patrick Stewart and I were participating in a charity auction. We both had our TNG uniforms to put on the block, and a room filled with over a thousand people was waiting for us to bring them onto the stage … but I couldn’t find mine. I searched a seemingly infinite number of closets in a hotel room that seemed to change size and configuration,...

Had a similar event happen to me this past night, and I heard of a couple other individuals experiencing it too after a long break. Perhaps the celestial bodies? The moon seems always in cohorts with my mental illnesses. Anyway, I'm sorry. That truly fucking sucks.
soopknertzi:
Don't know about the moon, but seasonal changes can affect mental issues. Mucks up the hormones. Increased daylight throws off the groove.  I just spent about two weeks waking up every two hours for no reason. Best thing to do is the most obvious and hardest: do not stress about sleep. Whatever it takes. I use an alarm clock and do not open my eyes until I hear NPR jazz. Friend of mine mentally runs through her yoga routine until she nods off. Keep a benadryl by the bed in case you need a mild knockout. Lastly, try replacing "this isn't fair" with "fuck it. I'm sleeping anyways." Use dismissive language instead of frustrating/angry.

Still makes me bounce around as much now as it did in 1990.

We are living in a world where Torro is not pink. This is not right at all.

Not my fault.  I loved all of her sets. I blame management.

“Have fun with your friends!” I kissed Anne goodbye.

“Have fun watching hockey!” Anne kissed me goodbye.

“See you when you get home,” I said. I watched her walk down the driveway, and headed back into the house. Marlowe and Seamus ran up to me as I got close to the kitchen.

“It’s just us tonight, dogs,” I said. What they heard was, “Chopper, how...

You have the complete series of a show about a man that does not exist? This sounds shadowy.
man_of_grogg:
That's why I always carry a brass lantern with me. Kids thsee days don't know about pitch dark grue safety.

If you don’t follow me on Twitter (good idea, by the way), you don’t know that the show I’m working on this week is Dark Matter, which is coming to the network formerly-known as Sci-Fi next month.

Here’s the trailer.

The basic premise of the show is: some people wake up from stasis on a space ship, and they have no...

I’m in Toronto for a couple of days, working on a show, before I go to Ottawa later this week.

I’ve had a nice time while I’ve been here, though I wasn’t prepared for how profoundly lonely I would feel after just 24 hours away from my family. I guess after months of spending as much time with my wife, kids, and dogs as I...

You call it stupid, I call it inspiration.  Maybe I'm pandering, fuck it I laughed.  It's a thing, it amused me and that makes it good.

I lol'd. Great job!

I'm on location for a TV show, which is usually not that big a deal.

But I'm painfully lonely after being away from my wife, dogs, and family for just two days. I've gotten so used to being with the people I love, every single day, for the last couple of years, that being away from them feels like I've left the most important parts...

Good luck on the show (and it's a bout time you got back to work! Heh.) and hang in there. Being away from the ones you love is rough. I just recently had to move away from all of my friends to stay near the one person I can't do without- my son. Hellacious to have to choose, but no one blames me for the choice I made.
wizard0:
Change is never easy, but you sacrifice for what you love.  Best of luck!
