My mother's surgery for the cancer is over with, and it apparently went off without a hitch. She's apparently going to have 4 to 5 months of chemotherapy, which sounds like a lot, but since I've never really been through anything like this before I really don't know.

Just found out my mother has breast cancer. This is completely out of the blue, she has surgery early next week and I'm stuck hundreds of miles away.
