Had a great weekend of film watching,
Took in three movies in the last two days and two of them were part of that whole "Eight films to die for" horror festival.
One of them was called "The Gravedancers" and it was a lot of fun, kind of in the same realm as "The evil dead",
part comedy/ part horror.

it is awesome,
i was at a Borders outside of Wilimington, DE. i had just stoped in to pick up aq couple a magazines to keep me occupied here at work. when i got to the check-out line i saw the big cardboard box on the shelves behind the counter. i had remembered seeing something about this book earlier in the year or last year, and decided to go up to the information desk to ask about it. when asked, i was told it was $200. i must have walked back thru the store for another 15 minutes trying to decide what i wanted to do. in the end it came down to the reasoning that yes, the book is $200, but i'm in DE and there is no sales tax, and further more the book is here in the store so there is no shipping charge. so i put back the two magazines, and asked for the book. the no sales tax, and shipping fees were the final nails in the coffin for me

I've been very bad...
i spent not nearly enough time on SG the last couple days,
instead i've been doing weird shit like entertaining people, reading books about fucked up movies and even attending my nephews birthday party.
Also watched "Me and you and everyone we know" for the third time (can you tell i really liked it?)
so i apologize,
i will catch up...

I have officially moved from crushing on the boytoy to being smitten - verging on infatuation...I sent him my oh god - i'm sorry for being a blubbering mess last night text and he suggested we watch bad kung fu movies...yup - I'm smitten...this was while i was driving to see my sister...to be even more emotional...but I am so glad I did see her today...I don't think I realized I miss her...I am learning about this whole "emotions" thing - I have a friend that used to call me 7 of 9.... but thank you for all of your support! And - we need to start planning on chocolate brunch - I have lost 6 pounds and am feeling a complete need to put back at least three of them!
Its Friday!

so my jobs annual christmas party is gonna be at some holiday inn,
i'm not sure if i'm going to go yet,
i might hit it up for the free food and the D.J

i got cool people to hang out with that weekend....

btw there was some kind of funky miscommunication regarding seeing this movie, which I'll tell you about later.
p.s. how are you my beautiful love?

I'm sure most of you have already heard about Adrienne Shellys death...
if you are not familiar with her work, i strongly recommend that you see "Trust" which was directed by Hal Hartley.
Its one of my favorite performances by her.
In other news,
i was cleaning out my closet tonight and came across an old dress from my former stripper days...

Have you heard there's been an arrest in A.S.'s murder?
Some kid.
The whole story's not out yet.
And definitely keep an eye out for Mad Love.
It's worth every one of it's 88 minutes!

So far, three people on here have gotten it right. I am very impressed So, did you hand out lots of candy on Halloween?

I'm still thinking that Jamie Leigh Curtis was one of the better scream queens back in the day...
even moreso than Linnea Quigley or Brinke Stevens,
but maybe not as much as Barbara Steele who certainly took the genre to a new level..
and of course i can't forget Karen Black!

yea shelly!!!!
yeah, i pretty much blanked when it came to scream queens.
but this morning i remembered i had a friend in 8th grade - david sweeney - he like all the scarey movies. so i had to watch all the halloweens, fri 13th, texas chainsaw (omg i HATE that fuckin movie), nightmare on elm st,
and every now and then he would grab a knife from the kitchen and pretend he was gonna kill me and he would go into this whole thing about how he had been joking all those other times but this time it was for real. and i would get all freaked out and he would call me a pussy. actually come to thik of it afterbirth and i have a similar dynamic
anyway, it took me a long time to be able to appriciate scary movies and not be truly scared. although i guess i'm talking about rosemarys baby, shining kinda movies and not slasher type
ice cream queen is another story. i got us a scoop for portion control, i was being too generous every night.
and i agree there should be pictures taken for you, well for me too, for EVERYONE really

i actually own Daughters of Darkness - i really like it, i've seen it a few times now. it has such great atmosphere - plus i love those 70's sex/horror conglomerations anyway. but it is a step above most of them, i think. the only thing that bugs me about it is the whole "mother" bit - seems it was reaching for some sort of hamfisted 'Psycho' connection there, since it didn't seem to really go anywhere. Delphine Seyrig is incredible as Countess Bathory...
and - i LOVE 'Don't Look Now' - what an incredible film. my girl and i do an imitation of the little creepy killer's shaking its head "no" all the time. there's an interesting story connecting that film and the Wicker Man - they were both being produced by the same studio at the same time when it was up for sale, and almost both got trashed when it was bought... i think they premiered on a double bill, actually...
anyway. lots of rambling there.

It means something like:
When the gondolas are mourning.
Gondolas mean gondolas, but the strange thing is the usage of 'Trauer tragen' which would normally relate to a person wearing something visible (to others, e.g. black clothes) to indicate that they are mourning. Well, gondolas in Venice are most of the time 'wearing black' so that the term 'tragen' could also mean something like 'transport' e.g. somebody who's mourning. Kind of mystic the choice of words but doesn't seem to relate to "Don't Look Now".
Probably the translation would have sounded stupid in German and raise some expectations which have nothing to do with a thriller. So, now, with that changed title, we would expect a tragedy of some kind ...

Hope you're feeling better today! I've been coughing, sneezing and blowing my nose all day, so I am really taking it easy tonight! I'm just going to write a couple more comments and then get in bed and watch a movie (maybe "Everything is Illuminated"). I'll try to update with pictures tomorrow!
Oh and check your regular email soon for the full set.
Have a great night Shelly! I miss you already!
