Oddly, I haven't been going out lately due to some frugality issues - wanting to save up for the protools rig and eventually a ticket outta this place - but last night was the Chili-Blues Festival here in the Haven, and I hit my favorite joint with some friends I just don't see too much anymore. It was great. The cats that were playing had...

So for work today I represented the company at the local high-school career fair. I hate my company. Loathe it, actually, and it's one aspect of audio engineering that bores even audio-fiends like myself. Anyway, my coworker and I pooled our resources and brought in a mobile ProTools rig and let the kids record whatever.

I went to the doctor today. I waited for two hours for him to look at me for five minutes and tell me i need anithistamine. Yuck. Claritin, specifically. Double-yuck. I can't think clearly on that shit.
So, it WAS allergies. To what? I still don't know for certain, but we've narrowed it down to pollen, mold, or TrueGreen Chemlawn. For those of you not...

Thanks for the nod on the band name. I've been wanting a band with that name to exist for years. 8^) I suggested it for the name of my own band, but we ended up going with the intentionally somewhat vague-yet-subversive Slaves to the Image.
My other fucked up spoken word band is called i, fanblades. That might be one of my favorite band names, but don't worry, the explanation of the origin doesn't really make sense either.
By the way, Planz never made it. He was in northern NJ, and some car hydroplaned and did a 360 in front of him, and then he heard on the radio that the garbage state was in a flood warning, so he decided not to chance it and went home. I understand but Rich, the host of the reading, was pretty pissed. Quote, "It's just fucking rain!" Oh well. You win some, you lose some. Rich is easy to piss off anyway, so he'll get over it.
Peace.
Mattie
PS. The BEACH is what is up with that picture. Nice touch. 8^)

oh. it all makes sense now. i hope you don't have access to any hatchets. or if you do i hope my "coconut" isn't nearby.
After much thought and book-balancing, I've decided it'd be much more worth my while to invest in something other than a vehicle. The van stays for the time being.
I can't get torn away from the studio gear that I've been drooling over. I guess it's easy to catch the new car bug.

The van died again this week, and then was resuscitated after forking over $100 to the damn mechanic. Ive come to the conclusion I need a new vehicle. Im not a mechanic, I dont want to BE a mechanic, therefore I need a car that Im not constantly fixing, and one thats not perpetually in the shop.
So Im going car shopping today! Hopefully for...

I'll knock the five-banger as much as I damn well please, thank you very much.
The reason I despise five-bangers so much is due to balancing. A four-, six-, and eight-banger (Ed.--"banger" is usually applied to inlines; V-type engines are just that--V-whatever) have companion cylinders to smooth the power pulses. Like my SBC. 18436572 is the firing order, so 1 & 6, 8 & 5, 4 & 7, and 3 & 2 are the companion pairs. Makes for a smoother running engine.
Now, let's take the five-bangers. 15432. So you have 1 & 3, 5 & 2, and 4 & _. Not kosher.
The naturally-balanced engine? I6s. I
straight-sixes. No funky balance shafts (like V6s, V10s, and I5s require), long stroke (for GREAT low-end torque), simple design, damn near impossible to kill (especially the Stovebolts (Chevy), Jimmies (GMC), and Slants (Mopar)).
Call me old-fashioned, but I prefer my engines have an even number of cylinders. Preferably six or eight.![biggrin](https://dz3ixmv6nok8z.cloudfront.net/static/img/emoticons/biggrin.b730b6165809.gif)

I'm feeling better today. I took a nice suburban hike around the country block and then some, which vanquished the persistant headache that had been dogging me all day. Staring into a computer screen listening to annoying needle-drop definitely didn't help matters.
So, the walk was nice!
It's very sunny and blue out, but still too cold. It's 37F (maybe 2C) out, but warm days...

I want to quit my day job, live out of my van, and just play shows for food and gas.
I beginning to think that's doable.

I need to get rid of my prison tan. Alas, rain is in the forecast for the next ten days. So my phosphorescent skin tone won't find any darker hues anytime soon.

My life is soo busy!
I'm dreaming of Neumann, Coles, Royer and Earthworks!
All but the latter would be my alias if I were an SG. Well, maybe Earthwoks could be my last name.
Delicious natural sonics.

There was another reason I was an ass last night.
I have yet to see if I can get the time off. It's going to be bad enough getting the time off the previous weekend for my stupid sister's graduation in CO, so who knows if I can get two weekends off? Not I.

Due to some unexplainable alignment of the stars and the Earth's rotation (or perhaps the Vernal Equinox), I've been dealing with an extreme amount of creative energy. This is good, because I haven't written anything meaningful in several months. That is bad, as I used to be quite prolific, at least one song a week.
It helps getting drunk and improvising to confused and embarrased...

ok! Thanks for all your input on Operation Nomenclature.
here's what we're considering:
The Northern Means (yuck)
Warmer (getting warmer)
Passcode (my favorite)
I also like Sugar Chernobyl, which was inspired by Tigerlily. But the band will probably think it sounds too 'metal'. Of course, Wolfshirt was another name that was thrown around. That one was relegated to a bar-band we might form for...
