Things went pretty well tonite.* Freakin A.

*I meant for recovering from crap and hanging out with the great folks, but for the Democrats too, but I mainly meant for the former, since I'm nonpartisan.

I've got a bad-ass cold going on. Cold, flu, whatever- when you get a handful of crappy symptoms, it's all the same. I had to work anyway, since... I get no sick leave, or annual leave, or any leave. At least my fever and headache seem under control from ibuprofen.

Last night went to Pirates o t C 2 with howdypardner. We hadn't hung...

I was gonna write about the Oregon election stuff, but I'm afraid to now. I'd probably just look stupid. Suffice to say, I'm torn on some ballot measures between my youthful idealism and my allegiance with conservative types that govt. programs, spending, and involvement usually don't add up to helping anything. My basic attitude about how the world works right now is 1) big businesses...

Huh. No one has told me anything about a party. I don't think there's going to be one really. I have a lot of stuff to do before I go. Like pack.

It's DEFINITELY been wet and puny around Pdx, hasn't it? I suppose now that it's November, Mother Nature figures she can begin kicking our ass.

I'm pretty ambivalent about this year's election, too. Nothing's getting me motivated and nothing's making me feel like my vote would even matter this time around. meh.... Call me a bad citizen, I guess.

Not much goin on.

KALE STALKS
I've been steaming fresh, leafy greens from farmer markets for half a year now. When I got collards or kale, I always used to throw away a large part of the stalks, i.e. the stem part that is not leafy. I dunno why I got into this practice, but I got to thinking- when I bought frozen chopped collards,...

I weighed the merits of long, self-examining blog-spiel about my angst and restlessness, and the many things I've been doin lately, versus another annoying YouTube-video-as-blog which will appeal to extremely few people....

I know, I know... but it's that damned drum machine. It has me hyp-mo-tized

It looks like I kicked some ass this week thanks to Joe Horn, Reggie Wayne and Rex Grossman. Nobody else on my team did dick, as usual.

Speaking of not enjoying days as much as I should have- I felt bored a lot yesterday, although when I look back this morning I really did everything I wanted to yesterday.
- I took it easy and read another book by Donald Antrim... but I'm not sure I'm going to finish this one. It's not that it isn't like the first one I read,...

Not much besides work this week, but:

I saw pygmy's hubby playin jazz on Tuesday. He has broken ribs right now, from a trip and fall, which ironically gives me some reflection on a police brutality query/ case going on in Portland news now; it seems that it could be easy-ish to break ribs hitting the ground.... anyway, I was glad to see him...

I went to the Bagdad Theater tonight to see the Portland talent show, "Pizzazz".... but jeeeezus, talk about a too-long line to wait in. It stretched down the block, then down the back block... and that was at 6:30 1/2 hour til the show was supposed to start. What'supwidat? They said the doors were open at 6.... huh. I'd walked there, so said screw it...

I've been meaning to buy Michelle Tea's autobiography for a while now!

This is a good entry. I have come to the same conclusions that you have... about memories... worry... vice... I'll add to this conclusion the feeling that I am standing at a crossroads in life lately... I need you to come and play slide guitar, duel with Satan for me -- a new path is just around the corner.

My most very favorite Cheech moment in this entry:
" blah blah, paradise, blah blah, Most Beautiful Place on Earth, etc. etc."
biggrin

ps- I am a new'ish honey fan as well, although I've eaten it my whole life, I've just started to appreciate just how good it really is. We got this kind that's some exotic New Zealand wildflower style of creamed honey -- it is to die for on a slab of french bread toast with my coffee, let me tell you....

I wanted to be a big hero yesterday, but ehh it didn't really happen. I was out walking on the north side of Hawthorne Blvd and saw a sign for a lost cat, Itchy. I circled around to the south side, in Ladd's Addition, and heard a whiny cat noise. I saw a long-haired tabby and black cat that were standoffish, but not fighting, just...

sounds like that was a great show. sometimes i wish i was living in Portland. i went out there for the Nurse with Wound show at the Doug Fir and stayed for a few days, seemed really cool if wet and grey.

i got to see mcluskey on what turned out to be their last tour, they were/are awesome. damn, too bad BGIMM didn't hear that dedication, i was chatting with her on myspace just before playing it. oh well....

if i can get out to my storage space, i'll try to dig out some of that C86/early brit pop stuff. i used to have the NME comp but i fear i may have sold it for drug money back in the day!
