In the absence of any interesting plans this evening, i walked over to Videodrome with the intention of renting Blue Velvet. Alas, the DVD was out, so i rather randomly selected Hal Hartley's Amateur.
Any Hartley fans out there? I wasn't familiar with his work until seeing this film, and i really enjoyed it-- the deadpan humor, the soundtrack! PJ Harvey, MBV, Liz Phair (when she was good)... What else do i have to say?
And then there's Elina Lwensohn. Sweet Jeezus, please bring her to me!
Otherwise spent some time with one of my few "mom" friends today (and her 3 month old). If anyone's looking for gift ideas for my birthday coming up, a gift certificate to Star Provisions will do just fine, thank you. Food snob paradise!

I have only really had a strong experience on Absinthe once, but it was pretty intense. I think the thing I like most about it is that I had absolutely no desire to do more. I am not a big fan of drugs that pull you in and make you feel like you would beat someone up for more. I don't even poke smot anymore. Heh. Poke Smot. I am such a dork.
