Always Moving

50

I haven't had much time to sit still and think and write. It's been all moving and doing and brief periods of exhausted spacing out/sleeping. I'm also experiencing some kind of crazy shift where the way things are in my head are changing as much as my external life. It's some trippy shit, guys. Here are some photos from Thailand.

If I were a poet, I would write a poem about your thumb. Haha. Looks like a nice trip. Yeah, it's kind of weird when you actually sense your internal software updating. You've got a solid CPU though so everything should be fine.

Change

19

I've been in Vancouver for almost two months now. The pace of things has been crazy! I rarely have a day to myself to just rest or catch up on things. It's been good though. I have a ton of great friends here. I've taken lots of small trips, like to Vancouver Island and the Gulf Islands recently. Lots of exciting things...

That photo would make a good cover.

Glad to see you are still here.  I had been missing your posts.

Personal Update

141

Things have really changed. I moved from Calgary to Vancouver last month, which I've dreamed about since high school but somehow was never the right choice at the time. I was born and raised nearby and it's always felt like home to me. I hope to stay past our 4 month lease and find another place, but things are never very certain when

2013

What do you want to let go of as we cross this threshold into the new year? You don't need to tell me, but it's good to think about. It's a perfect night for a release ritual. Burn it all away.

Happy New Year... I'll let you know how it works for me this year...

sydfloyd:

I need to let go of a lot of frustration. Last year's resolution was to be more productive painting and art-wise. I couldn't get anything done. It's just the situation I'm in now. I don't have enough space, time, tools, money for supplies, etc. All of those situations can be changed. I need to let go of the frustrations of not being productive, and keep my eyes on my goal rather than my current situation.

On Depression: Step by Step

52

I wrote about depression once before, but I thought I’d write something new—a step by step guide on how I face bouts of depression. This was mostly for myself, but if any of you experience depression in a similar way it might be useful to you also.

Please talk to someone if at any point you feel you are a danger to yourself

Very well said, every person deals with depression in there own way, feels pain in their own way, but this is a great example of steps you can take to understand your pain and bring yourself out of it.  Dig it.

free2slide:

The absence of hope, feeling like nothing will ever inspire you again. Have to tell yourself and BELIEVE that hope will return and you will feel inspiration again. Taking constructive action really does help. Nice job on your guide-points, well said.

On Self Worth

46

Lake Louise Poppies at Dusk, 2008.

We often judge our self worth based on accomplishments, looks, or what others think of us. Let go of the idea of determining value based on anything external. Think of the immense value and beauty of simply existing! The fact you are here is amazing. You are as worthy and valuable as everyone else, simply because you were born

I agree, I once heard a quote that went something like;;  man will travel hundreds of miles to gaze upon  the beauty of the mountains or the sea but we will pass ourselves by without a single thought.  It's true isn't it.  xx

sydfloyd:

@lavonne I see what you mean. That's a really good point. I'll keep that in mind from now on.

Experiments, Rituals, Meditations: #10

126

Photo: @Rydell - Sanctuary

Meditate for 10 minutes every day for a week. Try different methods (google and YouTube are great resources) until you find the ones you enjoy the most. The purpose is to adjust your state of being to a preferred frequency, one that is more in tune with your true inner self, instead of letting outside influences or the noise of the mind

Yeah, I think I'm gonna try some meditating indeed. I remember when we medidated during Ninjutsu practice (which I need to get back to) and I always felt great - renewed and relaxed.

Winter Solstice

67

Winter Solstice is here, the shortest day of the year for those of us in the northern hemisphere. It’s a perfect time to explore dark and hidden aspects of yourself, and perhaps try some rituals to release the things that no longer serve you. Reflect on the good things you’d like to manifest as the days lengthen and the light returns. Bring a

On Doing What You Love

30

Consciousness is the Ground of Being, 2013, by James Wyper.

There is no greater gift you can give the world than to do what you love. Following your excitement daily in every small and large way is the path to your true purpose, your true self. The world needs more unique and passionate people, not people who follow society’s rules and act like everyone

I strive for this, but sometimes you don't realise you're going off track. Deffo know when you're in it though. Zen like unity

On Love

19

True love is compassionate, unconditional, and unlimited. It doesn't include desire or attachment; it requires no outside fulfillment. It is our natural state if we remove all the false beliefs that obscure it. Love yourself. Be love.
