Surviving the Outbreak Part 1: Mental Preperation
Ok, this is the first in a series of blogs about surviving the Outbreak. Now I know the first question on your mind: What in the ever loving world is the Outbreak. That is quite simple to explain. The Outbreak is is a single event, wherein by a means, discussed later in the blogs, the dead will be reanimated to once again wander the Earth, seeking out the living to devour thier flesh.
In the mid to late seventies a revelutionary thinker had a world shattering glimpse into the future. George A. Romero had a vision of the dead returning to life to wreak havoc on the populace. Taking his theory to different government organizations he was summarily dismissed as a "fruit loop." That is to say they thought he was one chicken nugget short of a six piece. Having had his revelations laughed at by the people in power he decided to bring the truth to the people in the only form that anyone in power would let him. He made a movie. "Dawn of the Dead" was a box office flop. However it did aquire a cult following. Eventually many film makers followed Mr. Romero's lead, but none really beleived in the truth behind it.
Now that i have shared a little of the history behind the Outbreak, we'll go into a little on how to prepare yourself for surviving it. The first aspect we will work on the mental aspect of preparing yourself. The first thing that you must realize is that everyone you know will die! Whether in the initial outbreak or later as a result of being attacked by one of the infected. If this happens and one of your loved ones has become infected you must do the only thing possible: put them down. Because in the world of the infected there are only two types of people the living and the undead. To keep yourself in the first category you must be prepared to to take out anyone and I mean anyone in the second catergory. While I am not advocating the killing of family members during the inital outbreak if the become infected you must be able to do what is nessecary to survive. Also you need to prepare yourself another cold, hard fact: the only person that you can protect is yourself. Trying to do to much to protect yourself and others, wears you too thin. It will eventually lead to everyone becoming infected. And because of this you must be prepared to survive alone if need be. We will discuss how to know who to "bunk up" with for survival in a later blog. This means going extended periods of time with out so much as an iota of human contact. i would suggest going on a few camping trips sans people to try and acclimate yourself to this. Also be ready with a host of things to keep you sharp menatally.
Now that we have gotten into your head what it takes to survive. We will pause the lesson for that to absorb this information and next time we will discuss the weponary that you will need to have to survive in this future.
