An older SG commented to me recently that SG has betrayed its original purpose by going to Member Review. I must say I have to agree. In the old days this site was about the freedom to upend all the old meat-market assumptions about the varieties of female beauty, to celebrate the glorious abundance of real women in all their wonderful differences.
Now that the drooling masses get to vote on who's hottest, not only have we returned to the old consumerist model of exploitative evaluation, we have seen a corresponding drop in the percentage of SGs who demonstrate their distinctiveness in physical and mental beauty.
Other than the tattoos, and with a few still-notable exceptions, what exactly is different now from the old Hugh Hefner/ Miss America model?
