Today is the second day the sun came out since the year started... I'm hoping it stays for a while, as I'm tired of cold evenings. One good result of the weather has been a lot of nights spent in, listening to music and working on my creative projects. Leonard Cohen's "The Best Of...", Jennifer Warnes' "Famous Blue Raincoat" and Neil Young's "Harvest Moon" have been trading places on the turntables each night. Neil Young especially has been a confidante to start the year, which has been a good thing... I mean, he *just gets* how I feel, and that's awesome.
We've decided on the name THE NEW DECADENCE for the indie/shoegaze/electro/darkwave night that I'll be heading up starting in the Spring. As part of opening night, I've reached out to a few of my favorite artists to see if they would be interested in creating pieces inspired by the name for a group show... much to my happiness, Albert Reyes, an LA-based illustrator, is the first artist to sign on. I've been following his art for the past couple of years and really love his style (basically, he draws on old book covers)...

I wandered into an art gallery in Alameda this afternoon and discovered a couple of other artists that intrigue me... I love it when life just opens doors (and introduces artists) if you pay attention.
