Next week they'll start the work on my apartment - beginning with the kitchen/dining area by replacing and extending the tile, so no more carpeting in the dining area...
possibly a good couple feet into the living room, but hopefully no further since I'm not moving the living room bookshelves that are just past there *crosses fingers*
after that, I haven't heard any dates yet but they'll be cleaning/stretching the carpeting - which, after last week's meeting, she believes they can do room-by-room
it'll be the only way possible, since there's NO way I can fit everything in the living room and bedrooms into the kitchen/dining area, even if I stacked it all!
...it'll be a helluva lot of work, but methinks the apartment will look just a little nicer :)
especially if - as she thinks, but wasn't certain, they'd do - replacing the stove and light fixtures...
the fridge, dishwasher, and both A/C units are new - the A/C units only 1 and 2yrs old - so no need to replace those.
the sinks and counters were from just a year after I moved in, so they're good, too.
...also preparing for work - first week of the month I have a LOT on my docket (it's the busiest week every month for me, and that's not even counting projects!)
PLUS getting as much done that needs to be done by the end of the 2nd week of June, since the 3rd week I'll be gone, gone, gone...
San Francisco! *whew*... crazy that it's so close already - just two weeks after this weekend
it'll be well worth it - and I've been told I deserve the break after this busy-as-hell year thus far :)
- yeah, I've really got nothing planned for when I'm there other than how I'm getting there/getting back, the hotel, and Wednesday morning trip to Alcatraz
but that's alright... I know I intend to walk the Golden Gate and check out the bay, but I'm pretty good at playing things by ear - as I did with both Vegas trips a few years ago
hopefully I can start saving after this trip to do another trip next year - after years of no vacation and then the breaks between the two years of Vegas and this year, I kind of look forward to going somewhere rather than just being home.
"staycations" are just not my thing - 3 day weekends at home drive me absolutely bonkers, so a week or two would be mental!
( the days I took off in July and August I'll probably go crazy - but can't afford to go anywhere, so... )
so... that's about all I've got.
I've cleaned up the kitchen/dining area quite a bit, next on docket is the computer desk/area, and I won't move the table/chairs until after the girls leave Sunday.
*whew*
at least, I guess, this is incentive to re-arrange the apartment a bit?
the living room is a little awkward right now, but maybe... maybe I'll keep the couch where I moved it and the computer desk/area where I intend to move it.
( well, after they stretch/clean the living room carpet, that is )
Farethee well for now - enjoy your last weekend of May/first weekend of June!
random twits of the week ::
5/24 :
ruh-oh... the li'l featherbutt "protecting" my deck every mornin' is havin' a verbal battle with the bird who nests above my girls' window
5/25 :
for those bitching about the rain and fog - suck it up, today ain't about you - consider it the veil of tears of those who died for you.
5/27 :
re-arranging the kitchen/living room for next week's kitchen work (and so I don't have t'do it in one day) - looks kind of awkward (heh) ;)
made open spot where couch was for computer to go (temporarily?) after work tomorrow... not t'much left in kitchen/dine area - LR cluttered
5/29 :
for unusual looks at work, sing Paint Your Wagon's "They Call The Wind Mariah" : "Away out west they have a name for wind & rain & fire..."
finally got ahold of where I placed an order February and only received part of it - it was still an open order, so it's being rushed :)
kitchen/dining area is ready to go (excepting table and chairs so girls and I can eat this weekend) - computer desk/area is next on docket
