So yesterday I went to a ferret rescue/shelter to help out. It was a great experience! I didn't know much about this particular shelter before I went up and was surprised to see they had quite a few fuzzies that were used as breeding ferrets by a horrible breeder in Ohio. Thank god this man agreed to surrender his animals and stop breeding! Photos I have seens from the Doug McKay farm made me want to puke.
The McKay ferrets I saw yesterday were used to breed. That means they were spayed or neutered at a way later age. Allowing them to grow to their full size which is very impressive! The females from the farm where still quite nervous and quick to bite out of fear. But with lots more work by shelter owners and volunteers they will learn to trust people again. The male ferrets were a different story. The boys after being altered became way more cuddly and way less nippy.
Those of you who know me (Roza) you've probably already guessed that I adopted a new one yesterday! He a very big beautiful albino male thats almost 2 years old. So far he's getting along well with our other fuzzies kids!
