o hai!

First of all - Congrats to twwly and the rest of her clan for the new addition of lil Maggie! she is a cutie!

back from the west coast run - thanks to everyone who made it a great and rockin' trip!

things i learned:

- i have pretty awesome friends (old and new) - thanks for the hospitality amina, chopperdave, Chris Payne and rigel! as well as sash and zoli and for going along on my desert adventures in LA and Vegas.

- my facial recognition skills when it comes to identifying SGLA members in a dark club SUCKS! glad i got to meet/catch up with everyone by the end of the evening. holla drew!

- a parking space that is empty in LA, no matter the lack of signs or markings, usually means that you WILL get a ticket if you park there. (thank you echo park traffic patrol)

- playing bad rock (early sammy hagar) really loud and singing at the top of your lungs while doing 80+ on the highway around barstow is pretty damn awesome! (i was alone...thank christ)

- speaking of rental cars - i discovered that you will run of out dry lakebed before the rental pontiac gran prix with a sickly 4 cylinder motor will hit 100mph.

- rental car people tend to get a sour look on their face when you slap the seat and a HUGE cloud of dust rises up. (thanks to 4 trips to the desert and the fact that i will sit on the ground to shoot)

- cops will stop and see what you are doing if they see flashes and a rental car parked next to a broken down shack in the middle of nowhere.

- motorcycle and ATV riders will NOT slow down if there is a naked girl having pictures shot in the middle of a dry lakebed, but 2 creepy metal guys in a beater honda CRX sure will.

- traffic cops in hollywood will ticket your car 2min after the meter runs out...ask me how i know.

- hipster waiters tend to suck. luckily swingers food is good enough to make up for it.

- i miss the sound and ritual involved with listening to records.

- no matter how much time i have in LA/socal, no matter how good my intentions - i will usually end up not doing everything i want to do nor see and visit with everyone i should. <sigh> i guess that means i just have to come back soon. yay!

- Reno is Rad, going to a pool party where the Supersuckers are playing is radder, but having it in a hotel where there are herds of 18year old, 6ft volleyball playin' girls wandering around at all hours is AWESOME! LOL! thanks and happy birthday Chris Payne!

- that i have the only rental car in existance that had sash, zoli and mosh ride (at least a mile) naked in the passenger seat (at different times). i wonder what Avis would say to that? LOL!

i'm sure i learned more things on this recent trip..but needless to say - thanks to everyone for making it a great experience.

well, i survived knee surgery and able to walk around without a cane. i tend to carry it with me when i am on the subway so i don't get run over. much thanks to everyone for the well-wishes and get well soon thoughts.

well, tomorrow is my knee surgery. should be interesting.

me and my day job quit each other last week...should be really interesting.

thanks to everyone for their well-wishes on my knee. it's feeling better but unstable. so surgery should help a lot. if not, i'll just start wacking people with my crane.

things i learned this week:
- Mariah Carey likes my tattoos
- i can not recognize any member of The Dresden Dolls, esp amanda.
- that if you sit long enough at an exit gate of a parking lot long enough and the line of cars gets longer and longer..eventually, they will give in and concede that yes, you don't have to pay the parking fee because you were working for the company that owns the building.
- "forgetting sarah marshall" is downright one of the funniest movies i have seen in years.
- that getting invited to a friend's birthday party in Reno...with the supersuckers is a very good thing. i'm all verklempt now.

aww...thank to everyone for the birthday wishes today as well as my knee.

i have a torn meniscis with a dislocated patella that also has a slight fracture. the doctor thinks i can get away with just ortho and physical therapy. i got my fingers crossed. if not, 4 weeks on crutches while the more involved surgery heals. eep! that's about 3.95 weeks too long.

also thanks for all the support on Nixon's "Do or Die" Set..that was a lot of fun to shoot. i'll try to post some of the full size shots of the images used in the backgrounds. mmm....chicken foot porn.

still booking for hellcity in may...look for me in the bar with meow and vivid if you can't get up with me before the event. LOL!

DK in my studio alley:

i have discovered that my pain threshold is waay higher than my IQ.

this fact has always been in the back of my head, but saturday - i think i proved it to the world. i was shooting in phiily at a nightclub with gidgette, came off a weird double step at the DJ booth badly and came down on my knee wrong.

how wrong? well, i had to shove my kneecap back into place while laying on the ground screaming...that was interesting. i'm sure the girls thought that i had impaled myself on something.

still managed to shoot the set and 2 setups after my fall. needless to say, the 2 hour drive home was interesting as well with my knee the size of a basketball and my jeans soaked from the bag of ice i had on it the entire way.

so here i sit, with a cane beside me, a big bag of ice on my knee and a 5pm doctor's appointment.

i guess all these years of skating, snowboarding and other painful sports have prepared me for this sort of thing.




well, i did have a pleasant surprise when my designer friend sent me this link: Flashfilm Magazine. all the shots but 3 are mine (the 2 of the blonde model against the yellow and blue seamless are by our very own kencredible)...so, yay!
