Dealing with a minor bout of rejection tonight as I just found out I can't get my old barbacking gig back. The place I worked changed owners after I left and the new ones don't seem to care much that I have experience and know the ins & outs of the place. I was only hoping they'd let me sub for people who get sick/want a night off, just pick up some shifts here and there. Didn't seem like asking for much but went I went in to talk to the new bar manager tonight it was like I was a total zero and "I'll put your resume in my file". Yea right.
Sometimes it's hard when life tells you that you don't really need what you think you want. At least, it's hard until you can either trust that you don't need it, or cultivate the patience to wait and see how life turns out and you look back and say "Thank God I didn't get saddled with that shitty deal." At the moment, I can't say either of these things has quite come to pass just yet. But I'm sure it will be fine again soon enough.
