The person who first thought of the notion to smoke on this day probably felt extremely intellectual and insightful. Well, that is until they forgot about their idea and every year afterward gets high and contemplates how intelligent the person must have been to come up with that concept. Ironically, it's also one of the few dates throughout the given year that is actually remembered. Not only smokers remember it, though. Local Taco Bells cream their pantelones to the sound of el veinte de Abril. Word has it that next year to commemorate the event select locations are introducing the Big Baked Value Menu. Needless to say 11 'til May is getting resounding hype...

However, it's a bullshit "holiday" with less purpose than Opra's minge (South Park, 2006). Yeah, I said it, but don't let this kill your buzz. Before you pack your hookah with hostility, hear me out.

There is no need for a Sir Smokes-a-Lot day. Reason being that most potheads are going to smoke regardless of what day it is. That's comparable to an alcoholic using St. Patrick's Day as the scapegoat for a day of drinking. Chances are that they were already planning on making love with a half gallon of Skol beforehand. However, St. Patrick's Day is not a good comparison. That holiday was actually a legitimate holiday to celebrate a person. April 20th has no real basis to constitute a holiday. It coincidentally is Hitler's birthday, though. I realize that there is virtually nothing good in regards to Hitler, but this day needs more substance. Therefore, next 4/20 I'm not going to smoke a pound..no..instead I'm going to spread around...
