how could i forget??? We got a puppy August 1st. She's a boxer/lab/pitt and she's the best little doggie ever! We rescued her and that makes it even better.

She's ready for Christmas too!

so it's been forever, and I feel the need to give an update.. what have I been up to? Well the wife and I bought a house over a year ago. That's taken up a ton of our time. We're obsessed with making it super cool. We're kind of midcentury-eclectic in our design sensibilities and decorate accordingly. We renovated our kitchen ourselves over the summer. It was a shitload of work but in the end it was worth it.
I've been busy with my woodworking.. right now I'm working on a nakashima style walnut trestle table. I'll definitely post pics when it's done.
Speaking of pics.. time for some random newer pics!

So ready for Christmas!!!
so I've been really busy lately with the new house and my woodworking projects. I haven't posted in forever! I thought I'd share my latest project. This is a redwood burl coffee table I made for our living room. It has 4 rosewood butterfly keys and a teak base. It's obviously in the style of George Nakashima, who's work I am amazed by. Here's the teak base by itself.

The mortises for two of the butterfly keys, which span a gap in the burl.

And the finished table...

Next I have a nakashima style walnut side table and a walnut trestle dining table I've started. After that I'm going to do a slatted headboard that goes all the way to the ceiling. Fun, fun!

The bar I run security at had Robby Krieger (guitarist from the Doors) and his great backing band playing tonight... My wife and I went and we got to meet him. He was super nice... so down to earth! The show was great and the absolute best part was that he happily signed my Les Paul!

life is good.. it's just about summer, and that means my wife is done teaching and can stay up late with me (which means only good things!).. I've been working out like a motherfucker the last few months. I'm as strong as I was 10 years ago... anyway.. hate to brag, but it's pretty awesome..
can't wait for summer fun.. have a few concerts to go to already!
