The opening act was the Dutch band Golden Earring. Immensely popular in their home country, as well as throughout Europe, they were trying to break in America. Their histrionics were a sharp contrast to the languid placidity of the rest of the show, particularly when it came to this song. My apologies as the video cuts out before the end of the song.
Country rock mainstays Poco (they're still performing today) were the middle act on the bill, and quite honestly I don't remember a lot about them, other than Rusty Young's pedal steel playing. This video features his dobro playing, Richie Furay handles lead vocals and backing vocals are by Timothy B. Schmit, later of the Eagles.
The headliner was Procol Harum. veterans of the second wave of the British invasion in the early 1960s. They were touring behind their new album, the (to me anyway) the brilliant and sadly overlooked Exotic Birds And Fruit, This is one of the best songs on a great album.
